"UCLA does not award scholarships or financial aid to undergraduate students who are not citizens or permanent residents of the United States. International students must prove that they have sufficient funds available to them to pay for their educational and living expenses" - International Students - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions

It's all very clear and happy, BUT...

Has anyone heard of any international student applying for fin. aid getting in, without residency?

First post! :)

if they don’t award fin aid to intlls, how would we know of such people ? :O

Please note the big “BUT…”. I was kind of hopeful somebody had heard something…

I have not met anyone but look: [College Search - University of California: Los Angeles - UCLA - International Students](<a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board)

I have always considered the UCs to be a no go area for poor international students

^ The Collegeboard numbers might be combination of athletic scholarships and random smaller scholarships awarded to returning students. Notice that the average international fin aid award according to Collegeboard comes out to only $13K per person.

yeah I forgot that UCs (berkeley, los angeles) do give scholarships to returning student.

Its quite a gamble

Do you know of any other merit/need-based scholarships I can get from other sources?

Frankly, you should be looking at private schools - easier to get scholarships, etc. there. If you have the stats for UCLA, consider Chapman University, USC or University of San Diego.
