UCLA's Admission Process and supplement?

The weirdest things happen in life I guess, but I've recently (2 weeks back) received a supplement from UCLA. I did my research just like all curious teenager, and found out that the supplement are sent to borderline students. Considering my academic GPA, I'm not even close to being sup-par.

3.34 GPA unweighted
3.69 GPA weighted
19 on ACT
120/523 class rank

Although , my grades are terrible... I'm am a minority, yet sadly affirmative action is no longer in the UC system. I devoted a lot of time to my community, over 400 hours and I do sports and work 30 hours in order to help my family. My question is, why would UCLA send me a supplement if I'm not even close to their range in stats, why not the rejection pile?

Any comments, concerns and suggestions are welcomed

I’m not sure what you’re asking. Why not the rejection pile? I guess they see something in your application that interests them. The community service, perhaps? But you also have to realize that your gpa is borderline for the university. It would be fine for some of the other UCs, but it’s a bit low for UCLA. It sounds like they may admit you if you provide more information. Why not give it a shot. Good luck!
