Are all your application requirements filled out? If so I would wait since I have a few friends who are still waiting on a decision. I think the school will finalize decisions this week.
honestly, i donât know. i think they are pretty different in terms of courseload (comp sci & eng will prob have more eng- related courses than just regular comp sci) personally what attracted me to uconn was the bridge program- i dont really know much, sorry!
I submitted my application on the 25th of November. I do complete my checklist.
They told my son they would contact him directly on March 1 not in his portal. Nothing. No call. No email. Nothing. Itâs not right, but what can we do? We wait.
Been checking my email and applicant portal every hour or so today. I still havenât received an update. Iâm confused on how admission notifications are being handled
me toooooâŠ
My sonâs decision was updated on the portal Saturday morning (Feb 27). He received an email at 11am EST.
i have no idea how they release the decision
If you read last yearâs thread you can get a sense for the process and hear otherâs experiences. It seems last year UCONN was still reviewing applications as of March 5, so you should wait a week before getting too concerned.
lets admit the winking husky on the admission email is a little wackâŠ
My son was admitted to Hartford for 2 years with housing at Storrs, parking permit at both campusâs and he can drive or take free public transportation to campus back and forth. I called to find out that he has to stay for the 2 years. I can appeal for full time at Storrs I will find out the answer after May 1. No options to transfer unless he has the 52 credits before 2 years. Anyone have helpful tips on this experience.
I wonder why they gave him housing at Storrs but he has to take classes in Hartford. I would try to understand the thought process behind that decision before moving forward. It doesnât make any sense to me unless some classes he needs to are are only available in Hartford. Like how the BSBA is no longer avail at the Storrs campus.
My admissions counselor said special programs decisions come out next week, good luck everyone!!
The way it works is that you have to take the majority of classes at whatever branch campus you are assigned to, but you are allowed to take some credits at Storrs each semester. Since there is free transportation between Hartford and Storrs and itâs not that far, some students who want to live away from home and engage in clubs and activities regularly at Storrs will live there as well during those 2 years. I know kids who have done this and roomed with friends from HS who were exclusively enrolled at Storrs. It really only seems worth it if youâre branched to Hartford, since the other branches are so much further away from Storrs.
To me this seems a bit odd, but if the student has no other options I guess itâs better than not having any Storrs experience. The student really needs to love UCONN.
Ok you answered my question â it looks like merit $ was in offer email.
We were surprised we didnât get any $, but have learned everything seems so arbitrary this year.
Her friend got into North Eastern and Tufta but not UConn. Go figure ⊠lol
Although an odd situation there maybe is a silver lining in there? Things maybe changed but years ago word on the street was that it was easier to get higher grades at the branches while very, very hard to max GPA at Storrs. If GPA is important (and things havenât changed) this could be an opportunity for some hoping to get into law, medical school or other graduate programs after college where GPA is important. Just a thought.
can someone clear the confusion?
does UCONN consider undergrad cgpa for PhD admission?
what are chances of getting admitted to PhD if someone has low cgpa (2.66/4.00) in undergrad and high cgpa in masters (3.83/4,00) ?
Impossible to answer for anyone on this forum unless you tell your planned PhD discipline. If Science then you would need a very high GRE score to go along with your Masters GPA
its PhD civil Engg. GRE was waived for fall 2021 due to COVID.
and i agree that i wont find any help on this forum. ive searched on net alot. everyone has thier own point of view. some say bachelor gpa wont matter other say yes it wud matter.
