Thank you! I was curious about what are the hardest places to get into outside of Werth Tower, and where most freshmen stay in Storrs.
Also, does anyone know the decision possibilities? Is it straight up acceptance/rejection or is there waitlist too?
I donāt know about waitlisting, but when my ds20 applied, a couple of additional possibilities included getting branched instead of into Storrs, or getting admitted to the Storrs January program, where you do 1 semester at a branch and are then able to transfer to Storrs in January of your freshman year.
Yeah Iām really hoping Iām just accepted to Storrs normally
Aryanna! Thank you so much! My daughter is applying to UConn. We visited in the Fall and she loved it. We are from Texas so itās just so different, but in a good way She did have one question maybe you can answer. She loved the school, loved the people, loved the campus, but was wondering what you all do for fun? Storrs is small and it doesnāt really seem like there are many restaurants or bars and wondering what do you all do on a Friday night?
Anyone else notice that the Student Admissions Portal is currently āunavailable?ā
I can get in just fine
I grew up going to UConn basketball games. Since theyāre now back in the Big East, lots of students will be at games. Teds and Huskies will be definitely packed on Friday nights from what Iāve heard.
Iām also curious to hear what majors are capped and the most popular at UConn.
Looks like you need to charge your phone
Hi Sam! I would say the hardest places to live on campus are apartments because they are typically reserved for upper classmen. Werth Tower is a little difficult because you have to be in a learning community to live there. (Note: not all LCās live in Werth. For example my LC is in Northwest).
Most freshman live in Northwest, North, Towers, and Werth I would say. Some are in McMahon as well. Honors freshman are in Buckley/Shippee.
Iām an RA in Northwest and we have predominantly freshman. I have 40 residents and only like 4 of them are sophomores lol
Hi!! I can definitely answer her question! Storrs is small (we call it Cowtown lol) but UConn does do a good job at trying to provide as much entertainment as possible on the weekends. So on Friday and Saturday nights at around 9pm at the Student Union, we have late night! Thatās where you can get a lot of free stuff (little things and free food) and do fun activities. It varies every week whatās there because the late nights always have a theme but some I can remember are stuff-a-husky, painting, video games, silent disco, photo booths, etc. Itās a lot of fun. Also we have special events on the weekends sometimes. Like spring weekend, winter weekend, block party, UConnic (music festival), etc. This is where food trucks come, thereās a Dj, activities and so forth. UConnic has big artists come (Iām really hoping it comes back this year). Like in 2018, Khalid was the headliner, 2019 Lil Baby was the headliner. But honestly, classes are a lot of work so staying in is a good option too! Hahaha thatās what Iām doing this weekend. You can go to the gym as well.
We do have bars basically right on campus if she is interested in those lol. The restaurants/bars we have here are Teds (bar), Huskies (bar), Huskies Tavern (bar), MooYah, Subway, Blaze Pizza, Sgt Pepperoni, Wings Over, WingStop, Moeās, Insomnia cookies, EatJoy, Whale Tea, Dog Lane Cafe, Dunkin, Starbucks, DP Dough (my favorite haha), and more!
Acceptance to Storrs, Acceptance to a Regional Campus (Hartford, Waterbury, Stamford, or Avery Point), Acceptance to the Spring to Storrs program (fall semester at a regional, spring semester you come to Storrs), Waitlist, and then Rejection.
Thank you so much for the info! Really appreciate it! Hoping for an acceptance for my daughter
SUBOG does a pretty good job at making sure thereās a lot for the students to do.
The LCs confuse me a lot, even during the info session. Is there a LC for every major or?
Hi, was anyone else self report academic report waived? Mine was but it still asks me to link my SRAR ā¦ but my checklist for the application doesnāt have anything saying itās missing. If yours was waived did you fill out the SRAR still? I am so nervous for my decision UCONN is my top choice!
My child did not complete the SRAR for UConn because he submitted an official transcript instead. His portal says āwaivedā next to SRAR then lists the transcript as āreceivedā. The box below to submit the SRAR is still there, not sure why, but I just assume it is part of the portal. I find their portal pretty bare bones it is just that page and nothing else. The only application items listed are the transcript and that we paid the app fee. Also waiting on a decision. Good Luck!
It was waived here as well but still connected to SRAR. Already filled out SRAR for other schools so was easy.
Assume we find out this week/weekend.
