hey guys my D received her letter in the mail but there was no mention of merit. is that where they put it so we should assume she did not receive any funds? also it does not look like there is an accepted students day. we can only go on a regular tour. is that true?

^^^ Same here. No award. D and I are doing a regular tour at the end of this month.

I’m pretty sure there is an accepted student day on 4/12. Not sure where I saw it~ think on the web site under “admitted students”

Yeah, and no award here either Think it is all about the SAT scores. My S has a higher GPA but lower SAT scores than his friend and his friend got $12,000 while he got zip. Bummer.

@wewsy…unfair when it is all about SAT’s. I have said it before throughout cc.

Agree~ 4.0, multi sports captain, music officer, character awards… just 1250 M/V SAT. Oh well, after seeing those wait listed I am happy he is in. He is still waiting for BC but that is 4/1. Likes both UCONN and BC equally, so breathing easy with this acceptance.

@Twinmom2014, any final word on daughter #2?

There is an accepted students day April 12th. Here is info from website:

Storrs Campus
Open House for Admitted Students
Saturday, April 12, 2014
9:00 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. (Registration opens at 8:00 a.m. in Gampel Pavilion)

We invite you to visit campus and explore all that UConn offers talented students such as yourself. Throughout the program, you will meet some of our extraordinary faculty, staff and students that are committed to helping you reach all of your educational goals.

The link is http://admissions.uconn.edu/content/spring-events to sign up.

Wish I could click on link and sign up, however still waiting!!! Know several people in same boat, high GPA’s, SAT’s, tons of EC’s, all honors & AP classes and no status change since Oct/Nov. Keeping positive!

No merit here either. 1250 M/V SAT also. High GPA and great EC’s. UMASS, UDel, UVM, all offered lots of merit. URI honors college. Oh well, probably will go to UCONN anyway.

@reenski . No status change. Still says the same message we got for months. So surprise at some of these high stat kids that have not heard anything. Sometimes I think they throw all the applications up in the air and the ones that are facing up get accepted.

My son applied as an engineering major. We know those slots are very limited. He seemed ok with being wait listed, but I’m not convinced. I know he should be aggressive with the admissions dept, but not sure he will make the effort that is needed. He has gotten in to 5 other great schools, URI would probably be his 2nd choice. (I loved it there). I will now have to put down a forfeitable $500 to secure a placement. And at the end of May, UConn could say yes and give no merit money and we will still be back to square one! Stressful is an understatement!

so you guys who haven’t had a status change what are your thoughts I mean I’m def thinking rejection but why not put it out there already they have obviously posted some so if thats what it is just do it already and let these kids move on I’m not really understanding the fact thats theres no movement

What major did your S/D apply for @miesha5. I applied for business and haven’t had any change whatsoever online but they did call me last week and say they had completed my app and I would hear in a week or 2 and asked if I had questions. Its my understanding that no business majors have heard yet and they are just getting to them. Fingers crossed for everybody:))

Thanks guys for the info on Admitted Students. I signed D up…I wonder if it is going to be crazy big and busy? Wonder if I should do just a regular tour instead? But I figured the open house would have a lot more info on her major and she could meet people.

BTW…I could not register using Firefox. Had to use Chrome…in case anyone has a problem :)

@miesha5, no I am not thinking rejection! My daughter applied by priority date, has stats over and above what they are looking for and has had classmates accepted a few days ago with much lower GPA’s, test scores and rigor of class. I think their acceptances are either completely random or there is a reason other than rejection they are not notifying this group of kids. I know of at least a couple of other kids in same boat at their HS who haven’t heard either, these are top 5-6% of class of 550 kids. UConn would be foolish to not accept these kids but what do I know? Remaining hopeful and thinking they are overwhelmed with sheer number of applicants and no rolling admission this year. We had 1/2 of class (yes, over 245 kids) apply to UConn! Hoping future years they will reinstate rolling admission. My daughter has other acceptances but we really would like our in-state UConn to be a contender, if not first choice.

my D applied aces pre kinesiology she would not have made honors for sure but was def thinking she had a shot to get in saw 1 on this thread that was admitted aces but not sure of major I guess we wait GOODLUCK EVERYONE MY D COULD REALLY USE SOME GOOD NEWS HOPE YOU ALL DO TOO

miesha5, do you watch Supernatural?

no lol why

My son is top 5%. Great GPA, EC’s athletic, academic and music, so so SAT’s. No change on status since Nov. Applied engineering. I haven’t heard of any outright rejections. A few kids branched that we know or offered exploratory. They must be going major by major. I would think he would at least be offered a branch vs outright rejection. Who knows? Good luck to everyone!

so no new updates that we have heard of to the status the haven’t been touch I guess it will just be tomorrow because they are stating their site will be down from 11:30 tomorrow to maybe monday morning

We are oos so I’m thinking little more difficult to get in. Based on stats she should get in. No changes in status since Dec 3rd. The wait is so difficult but not to optimistic here. Unfortunately it’s our first choice and has been since freshman year.
