UConn Admissions Decisions

I just received my acceptance in the mail today! My basic stats are: 3.7 UW gpa (my school doesn’t do weighted), 30 ACT, a immense amount of community service hours (800 hrs), a bunch of extra curriculars, 6 APs, etc. Received a 12,000 merit based scholarship. Accepted into Biological sciences in UConn’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Hope this helps! good luck to anyone who hasn’t received a result yet!

@mdrm812 did your status change before you got the letter?

has anyone heard about the BS/MD program?

Question for accepted UCONN Fall 2014 freshman! Did you just get a letter in the mail or did you also see your status change on the UConn website? I am really confused about how student’s are learning about their acceptance. Not liking this waiting game at all!

From what my sons friends have said the website changes (sometimes in stages) followed by letter in the mail. We have not heard of any outright rejections. Only acceptances to major, acceptance to exploratory (not what was applied for), offer to branch and wait list. We are instate.

@jpjpjpjp no I am waiting for bs/md decision too. i called the office and they told me that we will hear in middle of march

We have heard about rejection here we are oos

seems to be no rhyme or reason to this system. Any idea if kids that are on the wait list still have option for merit money? Or is it all gone by the end of May???

My D received an email from a student recruiter telling her that her application is complete and she should be hearing from the university shortly and reminding her to fill out her fafsa forms. Is this standard or could it mean she was accepted?

That sounds promising did she receive it today? what is her major

she just received it a few minutes ago. her major is animal science.

i would doubt that wait listed students would qualify for merit aid. If you had the stats that warrant merit aid I would think (though I really have not clue of course~ ) you would not have been wait listed. My S has a 4.0, multiple APs and EC’s but only a 1250 M/V SAT. He is in but no merit aid was awarded. He has a friend who has a lower GPA, less AP’s and EC’s but hight SAT’s and he got some decent merit. Think it VERY SAT driven.

@wewsy… that makes me so mad when the hard working driven kids gets lower than the lazy good test taker!

@Twinmom2014, I would not call the student who got the merit lazy as his GPA is probably pretty high too~ just a better test taker. My D went to Northeastern and she too was a 4.0, top 10 with decent SAT’s but she knew kids who got higher awards and were admitted to honors who had lower academic records. Sadly we are in Central Maine and there is limited access to SAT classes. He is happy to be in. He is still waiting for 1 more school. He is excited about UCONN and not sure what he will do if he gets into his reach.

@wewsy You’re right. UConn is very SAT driven for freshman applicants, it really is their make or break part of the application. Want to give you a personal example. Last year in high school I had a 3.5 GPA and about 1600 SATs (1090 M/V). Not the best score I know but I’ve never been a good test taker. With these stats I wasn’t even accepted to Storrs, I was branched. However a person I know got a 2.8 GPA in high school but had a 2000 SAT (1400 M/V) and he was accepted to the Business School. UConn is very big on SAT scores and it was the deal breaker for me.

Luckily I was just admitted to Storrs as a transfer for the fall of 2014 so I will be going

Best of luck to all go huskies !

I logged onto the site earlier today and now when I try and log on it just keeps saying “invalid credentials” which it usually says if you type the wrong password…i know im doing the right password though. Is anyone else having this problem?

it seems fine you sure you have everything right ? are you using firefox

oh i got it its working now…thanks though

just found out i got accepted and got invited to their honors program. possibly scholarship because it shows link to the scholarship. my portal didnt go through all the stage changing process. it was still “your application is completed on november 7th” yesterday and today it changed.

one D accepted honors, one D still waiting
