UConn Admissions Decisions

@miesha5 & @tylemsmom where did you find out the decision? was on the UConn website, via email or regular mail? Sorry to hear about both of your decision outcomes. Your kids are meant to go somewhere else and I’m sure will be very happy where ever they end up. Good Luck to both of them. Let me know! Thanks!

@miesha5 & @tylemsmom are you OSS or in state?

oos online

We regret to inform you that you have not been offered admission at this time…

@miesha5. thanks for your reply! Again, there is a better place for your D! Good luck to your D! Not sure after all this if my D will even go to UCONN. We have been so frustrated. I guess we will have to see. If the acceptance is to a branch and not Storrs, UCONN loses for sure.

@twinmom2014 i gotta give it to you you were right however my D is inconsolable ):

I am so sorry @miesha5…that must be hard. It was a tough year. I just texted D2 at school…she is is taking it with a smile. She applied to 12 schools and this is her only rejection. We knew it was a reach only because of those stupid tests. For a flagship state school UCONN is up there. She is a great kid who will do well in life. Your daughter needs to understand that she will be happy wherever she lands…you can always transfer.

thank you I will pass on your well wishes her prob was she applied to mostly flagship schools so it was very hard because of that darn test it will be ok she’s gonna be ok I WILL NOT ALLOW ANYTHING ELSE GOODLUCK TO YOUR GIRLS

We are still waiting in state. I hope they look past average test scores and look at 4 years worth of work. Did you all read the New York Times magazine article about the SAT’s? A guy took 16 kids with average essay scores. He told them to write a long essay with lots of details. He told them to use a few big words and one quote from someone famous and they scored in the 90th percentile the next time around. Their essay could have had inaccurate dates and facts but those other items bumped their scores up that much. My kid, due to surgery and many EC’s, didn’t take a prep course hoping 4 years of hard work would pay off…not so sure now.

I am instate. my portal change yesterday to ‘info pending, check back in 24 hours’ . I have since gotten a Uconn email address and a link to pay deposit but no change on status.
I’m so sorry for your daughters @miesha5 and @Twinmom2014. Good luck to them in their choices.
This has been a really long, difficult wait.

I am so sorry @miesha5 and@Twinmom2014. I truly believe everything happens for a reason and they will do well at a different school. I wish them luck, this whole process has been very enlightening.

and after all that…waitlisted. Pretty sure she will not want to wait.

@erijohn … I will be sure to have D1 withdraw her application after we visit on 03/27 if she is no longer interested.

Do you get an email address and link to pay if you’re wait listed?

I too am sorry@miesha5 and @Twinmom2014…this is just not the path that your daughters are meant to take…greater things await them…although it is so hard for them to understand that right now! My son just got wait listed…so hard for me to understand as he has gotten into a lot more competitive schools with merit $$$… I really think they throw the applications up in the air and those that land face up get in and those face down, don’t!!! It’s a crazy process!!! Best of luck to everyone!

sorry Miesha5 and twinmom2014. My D still has nothing, so annoying, I just want to be done!

I just got into Storrs, but does anyone know how to view your merit aid on the portal if you were awarded some? I have pretty high stats for Uconn so I would be surprised if I didn’t get any money, but I can’t seem to find where it would be.

@stephmark3 & erijohn, where did you see the decision of waitlisted? Did you get an email or was it on UConn’s NETID website under the application status? My D’s app status still says information pending check back in 24 hours and it has reflected that since yesterday afternoon. Any input would be much appreciated! Sorry to hear about your kids decisions. I agree that UCONN is just not the path for your kids. There is a school out there that is a better fit for them. Good luck to them in where ever they go. I’m sure it is UCONN’s loss and not yours.

I’m with soonmtnest. I just want to be done either way too!

Well, after all that nonesense, I’ve been waitlisted. I’m beyond frustrated with UCONN at this point, I’ll most likely withdraw my application. I’m sorry but most don’t have the time and have better offers than to wait around to see if just maybe they let us into Storrs with decent financial aid. UCONN was by far the most frustrating school I dealt with…
