UConn - Any Word?

Anyone heard from UConn yet?

My D's audition was in the middle of February, and still no word...We assume it'll be a no, based on the status message that has remained unchanged for God knows long:

"The Admissions Committee has reviewed your application. However, no decision has been made at this time. The Committee has tabled any further discussion until the results of your Fine Arts Audition has been made available. If you have not already made arrangements with the School of Fine Arts to complete this requirement, please do so as soon as possible. Once we have received your results from the School of Fine Arts, the Admissions Committee will give your application a second review and a decision will be made."

Any thoughts, any results from UConn, etc?

We haven’t heard yet either. Not sure what’s up with that.

Hi, I was accepted at UCONN for BFA Acting. I got my letter in late feb. I believe the way that they do acceptances is they accept the first 12 students and then after they have heard from all of them they send out the rest of their acceptances depending on how many of those 12 accepted or declined the invitation. They can do this because they have the first 12 students send in a response by April 4th. It is actually very aggravating. So you should be hearing soon. I don’t think I am going to accept my offer. So there is one spot!

I also got my letter in late February and will be giving up my spot tomorrow. Hopefully that means another wave of decisions coming out!

Okay, thanks. We’ll start checking again later this week. What a strange way to handle admissions…

It is! and a little bit annoying that we had to respond so early. :/

Where are you choosing to go sberryfields?

mcal- not sure! I’ve narrowed down my options a bit and cut out UConn, but it does feel a little weird to be turning down an offer when I haven’t yet made a decision and committed. Do you know where you’re going?

Seems really unfair to offer spots before all of the auditions have concluded. Our D auditioned on one of their scheduled dates in late February. So are people here saying that they had already offered kids before she even auditioned? I’m hoping someone from UConn admissions might jump in here and tell us if that’s true, because if it is, it’s not a very fair process, especially when you consider that BFA programs go for diversity. In other words, there are only so many spots for males, females, and different races and ethnicities.

I got my letter February 24th. It gave the impression that auditions were over. I definitely know what you mean, racroce, but lots of BFA programs (at least BFA MT programs, I auditioned for a mix) have rolling admissions!

I agree, raroce. Lucky our kids have other BFA choices. And your d’s BA admission at
Columbia is impressive - I hear their drama/theater dept is amazing!

No. They waited till auditions were over. They sent them out a week after the last weekend of auds. and Sberryfields I am also not sure yet. It is between two schools. we will see

Okay just want to say something. I am racroce’s daughter and the acceptance was Columbia College, not the Ivy. Nice try Dad.

I called the department (because at this point I think UConn and UMass forgot about me) And apparently we will know by April 15th which in my opinion is far too late.

I never mis-led, my dear. I simply listed “Columbia,” which is also the name of the Chicago school. But I agree with you on UConn: April 15th will be too late in your case.
