I know, I know, the web site says Feb 1 is the deadline and Dec 1 is for early action. But if UCONN is your first choice (or especially if you think its a safety) apply by Dec 1. Like other state schools UCONN employs rolling admissions. Thus if 10,000 qualified students apply early, they are happy to just fill their class and be done with it. If you don't believe me just search the threads here and you will find top students with 2100 on their SATs who did not get in because they applied too close to the deadline. For all the "chances" threads here - keep that in mind.

Agreed. Even if UConn is NOT your first choice, apply early action (which is non-binding).

This is solid advice.

I applied a week ago.Is there anyway i can check the status of my app?
Also what do you think my chances are?

Applying early action
Thanks!

You have a very good chance.

Bump for November.

Bump for a new application season. Check the threads. Outstanding applicants who waited till December to apply last year were waitlisted.

That’s what I am going to do. UConn is my first-choice and I’m thinking to apply in mid-October or late-October. Is that early enough for the Dec 1 deadline for EA? I have solid stats so no worries here, just want to apply before everyone else :)

I have a combined score of an 1800 on the SATS
reading- 560
writing- 630
math- 600

my GPA (weighted) is a 3.68
i got all As last year though
and i will have taken a total of 3 APs by the time i graduate
i have good ecs and leadership positions
and good volunteer work

if i apply mid october do i have a chance of getting in?

Your SATs are on the lower half, but you definitely have a fair chance.

I agree early is best. My daughter’s knew some very good students from public and private schools that were waitlisted doing regular decision. One was given acceptance later and switched from another college which would have cost him much more, another, didn’t get off the WL and thought it was her “sure safety”. (all instate)

Just bumping this thread for the newbees. Early application is one of the biggest keys to getting into UConn.
