My S school doesn’t rank so they couldn’t have used that as a parameter for everyone. I’m thinking a phone call cant hurt. People do sometimes ask for more money and get lucky. I’m pretty sure that they don’t take money from someone else who declined offer though. They offer a certain amount of applicants admittance and merit knowing what percentage will decline the offer each year. They leave some wiggle room in case a larger amount than expected accept the offer then take from the deferred list after they know their yield. Most of the schools my son applied to this year are saying that they have the largest applicant pool ever. This is making the group of accepted students stats higher than previous years.
@petercsauer you do have awesome stats! I’m guessing you may be CT resident. That’s probably why you didn’t receive merit? I would have guessed they would have given you a couple thousand a year though. They only give the big merit funds to OOS.
I use this site a lot to look at admissions stats and other stuff. Has uconn admissions data from past.

Called admissions this morning, and was told that any merit is attached to the acceptance letter.
@LlParent101 I am CT resident and got merit $$ and Honors. It was noted in the acceptance letter.
They definitely do give merit for in state it’s just they give a lot more to OOS because of higher tuition.

@jameslarkin Congrats to you! You should be very proud of yourself. I’m sure your school and your family are very proud as well.
For those people that have been accepted, I’m not aware of any existing Facebook group. Would anyone be interested in creating one and joining? They have one for other colleges I’ve been accepted into and its really helpful in terms of solving doubts, finding roommates etc etc
It seems like I’m the only one who is still waiting to hear from UConn
@RonnieD there definitely already is a Facebook group. It’s called “University of Connecticut (UConn) Class of 2020”
@singer1234 oh great, thank you so much!
Don’t worry!! I’m still waiting too lol
Haha I’m waiting too. We should keep each other informed the moment one of us finally gets an answer!
