[] Essays: I thought they were okay; by no means exceptional. I applied for UConn’s major scholarships, so I had to write 5 essays in total. To be honest, I rushed the last few because of the Dec 1 deadline #Early-OnsetSenioritis
[] Teacher Recommendation: I have no idea; these could’ve really gone either way; I picked a couple of teachers that I knew well, but I didn’t necessarily do well in their class.
[] Counselor Rec: According to people that actually read it, it was extremely long and thoughtful (which hopefully means good)
[] Additional Rec: None
[] Interview: The interview that they invited me to was my first college interview, so I was terrified. I’m not a natural by any means in regards to interview, and when they sat me in front of the Vice President of Admissions (or something like that), I kinda freaked out (lol)
[] Supplementary Material: None
Other
[]Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
[] State (if domestic applicant): CT
Country (if international applicant):
[] School Type: Public

[li] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): None[/li]
Reflection
[] Strengths: Looking at my application, I honestly don’t see anything special; I try to portray my strong passions through what I do.
[] Weaknesses: GPA isn’t great; it’s only good
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I honestly don’t know; the scholarship that they gave me was something that 800+ kids from CT applied for, and less than 30 end up getting it in the end. I don’t know what they saw in me, but I’m extremely appreciative of the opportunity that they have given me.
[] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Rejected WashU (ED1) and Vanderbilt (ED2). Accepted UVA and UNC (both EA). Deferred UChicago (EA)
**General Comments: ** This was something that I took away during my college application process and my over my academic career as a whole: no matter what you do in your academic career, you should never go into something thinking what could be, or what will happen if you do well/bad/whatever; always go into every single thing that you do - whether it’s an interview, a competition, a speech, whatever - looking at it as an experience in which you can better yourself from.
Good luck to the rest of you, and I hope to see some of you at an Open House or an Honors College Seminar (or whatever they do at UConn)
