I am still trying to decide between uconn and a few other schools, but I have a few questions for any current uconn honors program students or for anyone who would like to help.

I was accepted into the uconn honors program with a scholarship and I was wondering if I have to participate in the honors program to get the scholarship. Also, I was wondering if it is required for honors freshmen live in honors housing. Is living in the honors dorm limiting to social life on campus and to meeting other freshmen?

I really like uconn and I am excited to be a part of the honors program. I am also happy because they have a great pharmacy program, which is what I want to do. I am just concerned that living in the honors dorm may make the universtiy too small for me and that I may miss out on some of the college experience. Any advice would be greatly appriciated!! thanks :)

I would like to know the same thing about the social life. Is it boring in the Honors dorms?
First year students do have to live in Honors housing.
You do not have to be in the Honors program to get the scholarship.

I have only heard good things about the honors college! I have a few friends going there next year, and they’re all pretty excited. Nice dorms and you’re priority to UConn. (in choosing classes)

thanks guys, I decided on UCONN and the honors program so hopefully the honors housing is fun and the benefits of the program are worth the hard work

The honors program is 100% what you make of it. I have friends in the honors program that take a lot of honors classes and do the events. I also know people (myself included) that didn’t care about any of that, and were skating by in the program. The program itself never appealed to me personally, I was just happy to get the scholarship. The majority of the kids stay involved though.

When I first heard I was living in the honors dorms, I wasn’t happy about it at all. But its actually a great place to live as a freshman. It’s all first year students and you’re all stuck in the same boat. I had a ton of fun, and while some people like to stay in and study on the weekends, that’s what its like in all the dorms. It’s also quiet for when you need to get work done. Sophomore year I lived in an all sophomore building in Northwest, and that was loud all day every day. Which was fine with me, but I know it irked some people (like my RA lol). You’d be surprised how many kids want to have fun even though they are in honors.
