Uconn Nursing Program?

Just ended my junior year and going into nursing. UCONN’s nursing program has only been getting more competitive, I know because my older brother is currently enrolled going into his junior year there. Most of the people I’ve spoke to says if he had been a female, he wouldn’t have been accepted. I take a heavier course load, got better grade and better GPA but I’m a girl and afraid I won’t get in. Anyone know if I stand good chance with these stats? I’m freaking out!

Cum GPA approx 3.8
2 APs jr year
2 Senior year
Honors all other classes accept math
1250 SAT
CNA Program
– elementary school tutor, anti bullying club, student gov, Pres of SADD club, Innovative Thinkers Club, 3 sports varsity, capt. of lax team, raised thousands for wounded warrior, breast cancer, autism, my city’s prevention council, outstanding citizen award and more? Also I’m from CT but really interested in California any suggestions appreciated.

Just so you know, most nursing programs disregard the CNA part. I’m not sure why, but I’ve heard this many times. It won’t HURT your application at all, it’s just often ignored.

UConn is indeed a tough and respected school. Arguably almost on the same level as schools like UVA. But I think youre a great fit, honestly! It’s worth it for you to apply, especially if you have a brother going there, and a brother that is in the Same program you’re applying for. THAT will help your chances. Colleges love admitting siblings/family members.
