I have the options to go to either my state's main school, UConn, or to the school that I've always wanted to go to, Boston U. If money wasn't a factor I would definitely be at BU next fall but with where my family is at it is definitely a factor. BU is over twice the cost of what my instate tuition is.
I'm going to be a junior so everything is a two-year projection. I'm going into both schools as an economics major but I'm also open to changing that as I'll have more options than where I previously went to school. Grad school is also a really strong possibility for me. Both of my parents have told me that they have seen me doing that and I have too. My parents are the money behind this and while paying for BU wouldn't really empty everything they have, it's not exactly easy to pay for either.
UConn is definitely the practical, economically sound choice, but BU is where I've wanted to be since I started looking at schools(I didn't get in the first time during high school). Whenever I pick UConn for a second because it's a good school, a big step up from where I was, it's cheaper, and I can see myself enjoying things there, I can't help but to think that I'm passing up on a lot at BU. I'd be really happy with a degree from there even if it meant grad school would be harder to do, I'd get to live in Boston and have the help from the school to try and stay there after graduating.

Do your parents a favor, go to UConn. The undergraduate exeprience at BU isn’t that significantly better to be worth twice the cost. You can go to BU for grad school (as I did).

I agree. UConn makes the most sense. Go to Boston for grad school.
