I have been accepted to both as an international student. Which would be a better choice?

And how good are both for math?

Are you Asian? Binghamton seems like it has a very large Asian population and pretty diverse overall with alot of international students.

Diversity is not important to me. In terms of prestige, better academics and the usual factors, which school would be a better pick? Thanks

I am an international too(Indian), i also got into both the schools + penn state but i am a business major.

And out of all the 3 i am choosing Binghamton, it surely has a better repo than Uconn but may be not better than penn state, but then money matters, Bing is the cheapest and is great academically, specially the school of management.

If you have to choose between these two, i think you should go for Binghamton, do a little more search about their maths program and take your final decision, do post your final decision. Good luck !

^ I’m a current SUNY student and honestly don’t feel that Binghamton has any better of a reputation than UConn. And to top it off, I’m transferring out of the SUNY system and into UConn.

^ I agree. UConn, IMO, has a better reputation that Binghamton, and that’s coming from a NY resident. But it’s not all about reputation, it’s about fit. Did you visit all of them? Which one did YOU like best?

If you live out of state Binghamton is a much easier school to get into. I know many people with grades under ‘B’ who got into Binghamton and were rejected to UCONN. My daughter went on a tour of Binghamton and decided not to apply, she loves UCONN. Both of my kids after going to Binghamton had a dark cold feeling.

^^ Ummm, it’s the same way for UConn. It’s easier to get into if you’re out-of-state.
Binghamton has higher standards either way, and so, is more highly regarded.

I know both, and liked Binghamton better.

Doesn’t it differ by major? Anyone know which has a stronger History and/or Pol Sci program ?

For math UConn is a good choice. DS2 is taking the advanced calculus sequence [Department of Mathematics | UConn](http://www.math.uconn.edu/UnderGraduate/AdvancedCalculus/index.php)
The classes are quite small, highly rigorous and taught by excellent teachers.

My girlfriend was out-of-state and she got into Uconn easily. Ofcourse, i feel like many school want the extra cash they get from out-of-state students. That doesnt mean a school is any less prestigious than another. Binghamton is a great school, my sister attended there for a couple of years before transferring to NYU and she said it was a great experience. My girlfriend attends Uconn as out-of-state and she also said it has great academic programs and very good student-life to the point that it gets out of hand at time. Uconn has something many school dont have and it is the tremendous success of their Athletics program and everything in school revolves around that. Everything!

Every step you make in the campus, everywhere you eat, you would notice the “Students Today, Huskies Forever” as banner. Its great. I went to a basketball game Uconn vs Stony Brook and it was awesome. The pride for the school is great. National Championships, bowl games, etc

However, if you are searching for price vs quality of education I believe nothing tops the SUNYs in that. Search the “Best Colleges: Best Buy” category and you would see Binghamton, Stony Brook, Albany, Buffalo placed high in that list.

SUNYs lack the student life and pride that a school like Uconn has but in terms of research, academic prestige, both schools are at the same level
