UConn RSP & Honors Program vs UMich / UVA

Hello community,

I was accepted to Uconn with the honors program and Regional school program (Basically, I get to go for instate tuition even though I am OOS). Unfortunately, my fin aid for Mich and UVA is a giant goose egg and as of now, I am undecided on which I would pick if I do get the option.

I am looking to major in BME with a Pre-med track and then go on to grad school.

I am constantly applying for new scholarships every week, but with my financial aid situation, I fear that I wouldn't be able to afford the full 4 years at Mich or UVA without taking out loans. My parents say that they can afford around 25k per year which easily covers UConn and the scholarships I get are just gravy. Essentially, without aid of any kind & a conservative 5-10k per year worth of scholarships, I would be 15-20k in loans per year at UMICH or UVA. Not to mention that my two sisters will both be attending college in the next two years (May actually help with the fin aid situation).

I know that the BME programs at Umich and UVA are stellar but I can't seem to find anything on Uconn, so anyone with insight are more than welcome to post.

My main questions are:
What are my chances at coercing a bit of financial aid out of Mich or UVA to try and bring the price down when compared to Uconn?
Would going to UConn impede my chances at getting into a prestigious grad school even if I continue my good academic performance through college?
IS UVA OR UMICH WORTH THE EXTRA 20K PER YEAR OVER UCONN?

Thanks!

bump anyone?

One more bump and I’ll let it die…

If you are serious about med school I would think about going to UConn and save your money for medical school where your loans are really going to start piling up. The medical schools care most about good grades and good MCAT scores and the pre-med science prerequisites at UConn will serve that purpose. I don’t think your chances of going to med school will hurt by going to UConn.

If you are interest in BME other than as an undergraduate pre-med course of study, I would consider one of the other two schools. I highly doubt you will be able to coerce more aid out of Michigan or Virginia. I think Michigan and Virginia are worth more than UConn but I couldn’t tell you how much.
