How much will 9th and 10th grade hurt me? what are my chances?

Yeah, I talked to my counselor today and he said to apply early to all of my top choice schools, and he also said he thinks schools will realize that I am not the same applicant that I was freshman and sophomore year. After looking at some naviance scattergrams I think I have a shot at getting into all of them, but my main concern is that the engineering programs are harder to get into than the rest of the school.

Thanks, i’m surprised im not being hit with the “You have a 3.2 cumulative GPA…They are all high reached”. I’m just hoping you guys and my councilor are right.

Yea hopefully you’l get in. & thanks, I will apply to Cornell because even though I messed up sophomore year (went through devestating heart break) I changed and I’m a good student

Good for you, I hate it when people on this board discourage people from applying to their dream school. At least if you apply and get rejected you won’t live with regret. I’ve said this around here before, but you don’t want to be looking back from a school you don’t want to be at as much as Cornell saying, “Why didn’t I apply to Cornell, I might have gotten in, etc…” If you get rejected, you get rejected, but if you don’t apply you will never know (as long as you can afford the application costs.

I only know VT and Drexel. VT seems like a slight reach cause its really important to have a great gpa and scores but if you’re a VA resident you should be a shoe in. And I am confident about Drexel with you! If I don’t get into Ohio State then I def wanna be a Drexel Dragon! Good luck with everything!

Oh, oops, I see you’re a NJ resident. But don’t worry VT isn’t too hard but def not a safety. And Rutgers might be tough too, but you have a chance. Probably the same chance as VT. But you have chosen some great colleges to apply to! And your grade jump will show them that you can get serious. If something (like family troubles) cause your grades to drop, write it in ur essay. Colleges can be forgiving, if there is shown improvement and a reason for error.

Yeah, I know VT won’t be easy and by no means am I in. My councilor showed me some people from my school who applied to rutgers school of engineering and were accepted with ~88/100 and a 1750 being the minimum. I have an 89.5/100 and an 1860 plus a huge upward trend, so I think I have a good chance especially considering that I am in state
