Uconn

Has anyone heard anything about interviews with the medical school yet?
I heard we should get notifications soon if we are offered one (in the next 2 weeks)
I got into Uconn with honors program, don't remember scholarship amount it was probably bout 14-17k.
What about you guys?

Yup same, i think it was half tuition?
I called and someone said we should know by mid feb.

anyone else?

According this thread http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-connecticut/433711-uconn-combined-bs-ba-md-dmd-8-year-program-some-other-qs.html</a> aabanaaban has already gotten an interview notification from uconn. Do you think they are still going out? Has anyone heard anything?

thanks

Perhaps she’s instate? They do prefer students from Conn.

I called and left a message to the person in charge (Richard Zeff) , but i got no response.

I hear they notify in mid febuary so im going to wait until a week or so before contacting them again

Anyone else get the uconn cpim interview yet? I’m getting worried

Nothing yet jj, I’m getting worried too. According to the threads from last year people got interview notifications on feb 9 and it’s now the 16. This waiting is so annoying.

Got a call today from a Uconn student asking if I had any questions about the Uconn Honors program. I asked about Cpim and she said interview notifications come out late Feb, so may be there’s still time. Honestly, I have no clue when they come out or if they already came out or what the deal is.

Hey vbhasin1, i called the school of medicine directly today, and the lady told me they already interview 32 people, and that their pretty much done…she said the school only contacts those who are getting interviews.

yea i know, sucks. But she directed me to the person in charge of the program at storrs and i called but he’s out. I’ll call him tommorow or so, and let you know what happens.

our files probably never got fowarded…

If we take the time to fill out the application, get recommendations, spend money on an application fee, and apply they should have the decency to at least take the time to send us a rejection.

hey, I called and this is the reponse i got:

300 app’s
30 interviewd
only 8 spots
sorry, you didn’t get through

they only contact interviewee’s. The guy in charge was actually really nice, he said it was harder getting into it then going traditional and getting in. He said we (me and all other applicants) could still go to med school and this really meant nothing. Alot of b.s. comforting words lol, but really nice guy!

I basically got rejected from all my progams except 2 so far, and only had 1 interview of those 2 so far. These are a crapshoot, but it happens, nothing you can do except apply right?

BTW I hate Temple, they lost my application -___-, and the lady in charge was reallly really rude about it, suggesting it was my own fault. It was the last one on my list anyway, but goodluck to you, a med program is a med program after all.

oh well, after the 15th passed I was skeptical anyway, 8 that’s how many “spots” there are for the Temple programs too, I think there are less competitive cause there based out of Temple’s Western Pennsylvania Hospital Clinical Campus.

Duquesne had 30 interviewed too, and there are 8 spots at Temple… that’s funny

I don’t know whether I’d even like the Temple programs though…might just go the 4 yr route
maybe all these rejections are telling us that the traditional route to medical school is better for us.

To apply to these you have to put in a lot of time, but yea you gotta to apply. 8 out of 300, that’s a 2.67 acceptance rate and Harvard’s is 6.9, so yea these are definitely somewhat of a crapshoot, my bro got into 1/12 he applied to, and I think getting into one is an accomplishment

Good luck with Drexel and UMDNJ dude,
would you go to either of these if you got in? what normal undergrads did you apply to?

DUCOM was okay, but I don’t really know what to expect of a medical school, what’d you think of it (I interviewed for Rosemont-DUCOM and Kean-DUCOM)

Yeah definatley, just one is an accomplishment itself.
I hate how there aren’t alot of people involved in this CC BS/MD board, i mean there’s bound to be more people who applied to uconn aand others, but they just dont post for some reason…

Heck yeah I would go to the UMDNJ one, its was my top one lol, so its kinda funny im left with my top and kinda last choice-drexel. But if i get into either, id be happy.

my undergrads are rutgers, nyu, hopkins, cornell, northwestern, brown, a few more.

I thought DUCOM was okay too, dont like the location much though, and the interview went smooth- or atleast i hope. i honestly dont know how to judge how interviews go anymore haha

some people are definitely too stuck up to post and have their words on the internet forever, it has been mentioned that the forum isn’t as useful as usual.

yea DUCOM’s location is bad its not close to the city, and who would want to live by there

their teaching style the lecture or like case based thing is also strange.

yea I might just go to a normal school but I’m still waiting for decisions from most of them

best of luck
