@selfconfidentgal I am
@ImJustaPerson if you havenât seen a UC degree, it literally says âUNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIAâ with the campus in tiny letters underneath. A lot people arenât well acquainted with a lot of colleges outside the Ivies, big sports schools, Berkeley, and UCLA (along with a few others) and thatâs where the false judgement comes from. All UC campuses give a great education. People just donât take the time to look into it, and assume that theyâre âshittyâ just because theyâre not at the same level as Berkeley.
Performance really does matter for undergraduate degrees, to get into grad school, or so make your way in the work force. People care about the selectivity because they feel like they need to go to the âbestâ school. Most people (teachers, etc) in my life have always pushed the âbestâ but in reality, the government spends tons of money on each UC campus and theyâre all great schools. UCR is improving famously: if you look at some graphs, the acceptance rate has dropped tremendously (from 80something% to what it is now, like 55ish%) in less than 10 years.
What Iâve been told time and time again is that it truly does not matter where you complete your undergraduate studies unless youâre attending an Ivy League or another top-notch school (USC, UCB, Stanford of course).
Waiting as well
UC GPA:3.3

Second Generation Asian, first to go to college

Major: Biochem
I got the acceptance glitch and my âadmission is under considerationâ
Do you think I have a chance? Would calling or emailing the admissions office have any effect?
@ericnguyen20 Did your major show up during the glitch acceptance? Some people here have been rejected, but their major showed during the glitch. Iâm not too sure about your chances, but even last year, if you look at the freshman profile, there were many people under a 3.5 who got accepted. Iâm sure weâll all be fine. I called the admissions office a few days ago, but they were unable to tell me over the phone if I got in or not. Theyâve said numerous times that decisions are rolling throughout the end of March, so I guess weâll just have to wait until next week when they release their final batches.
Son still waiting. Had the acceptance during the glitchâŠthe one with no major. It would be really nice to know if UCR is an option as weâre feeling a lot of pressure to make decisions. Ugh.
still waiting
I got accepted and it showed accepted w/o major. I got accepted as alt tho. Last week
This was during the glitch, it showed accepted! but blank major
@RIPHARAMBEBABY Whatâs your alt major? And what are your stats?
I also got accepted w/o the major during the glitch ⊠still waiting
So i have spring break and Iâm leaving the country to volunteer abroad and Iâm going where internet isnât available, do you guys think notifying them about it could help up process my info? Iâm still considered for admission I get back April 28 and itâs cutting it REALLY close for committing.
Btw I called them and they say they send batches everyday but there will be a small amount of people who get thereâs first week of April and all waitlist come April
@nylkoorb What would be a difference for applying to a job between a UCR graduate and a UCB grad?
Is anyone still waiting for their admission decision for ucr
