UCR waitlistees please discuss your experience and what you plan to do about being on the waitlist. At this point for me personally I have to do the steps in enrolling in a CCC with an honors app. Post stats and major of your waitlist if you like.
S17 waitlisted yesterday for CS.
UC GPA 3.56, fall 2016 at 4.0
SAT 1370 (660M, 710CR)
ACT 30
Tennis, cross country, volunteer
No APs until senior year (long story)
We did not anticipate that the current cycle would be much tougher than previous. Waiting for CPP, will accept WL at UCR. Also preparing app for CCC Honors program. Challenging the AP CS A exam in May.
I was on the wait list and got this at 2:30
"The University of California, Riverside received tens of thousands of applications for the upcoming term from many talented and stellar students. Undergraduate Admissions carefully reviewed each of these applications with thoughtful consideration using a combination of academic and supplemental criteria. We regret that we are unable to offer a space to more of our hard-working and exceptionally talented applicants. Consequently, after a thorough review of your application, we regret to inform you that we are unable to offer you admission for Fall 2017.
If you have compelling new information not originally reported on your application that we should consider, you may appeal this decision by April 15. Visit the Appeal Process Page for more information."
I was offered to be put on the wait list for the College of Humanities,Arts and Social Sciences.
Hopefully we get offered admission.I’m planning on making an appeal letter since this is a school I really want to get into.
I got waitlist for CNAS as a Neuroscience major. I appealed and I am waiting for a response. But the appeal does not affect my waitlist status . Praying I get in , UCR has many programs that other UC’s don’t.
I was accepted to Merced, Santa Cruz , and Irvine.
@chinatownjr @kimsibrian I’m waitlisted and appealed as well. Does your portal look different than it did from when you got waitlisted? Mine says my appeal is under review and that a decision will be made vs. when I was waitlisted it stated that I was waitlisted for CHASS. I hope my waitlist isn’t affected by my appeal.
Was it just the 500 characters for the appeal? Are we able to write a letter too? because i just saw that we can provide documents… but thats all besides the 500 characters lol im stressed
@alphelia I included my fall transcript and a formal letter of appeal.
@Tahlspad how were u able to submit a formal letter of appeal? in the document area?
@alphelia yes.
Any news from the waitlist?
Crickets.
I haven’t heard anything from the waitlist or the appeal. The appeal said I should hear something back in 15 buisness days and it’s been more but I haven’t heard anything. This is so frustrating.
I emailed them regarding my waitlist/appeal status here is what they told me :
“We are hoping to have our appeal decisions out by May 15th. If your appeal is denied, you will be set back to the last status of your application which should be the waitlist you accepted. Keep in mind, our waitlist offers will also not be released for a few weeks.”
Thanks for the info @kimsibrian this is very helpful but frustrating. I guess we have to wait some more.
My S has been just admitted to PoliSci major !
Does anyone think that they are done? or do you think there will be one more round?
I’m still waiting but I feel like their done to be honest, it shouldn’t take this long to find out and I’ve seen people get accepted off the list but not rejected yet
Too much waiting and probably no housing options. Son is moving on…Honors program at CCC, goal is to transfer to UCI, UCSD or UCSB. They have a good track record. Besides, learning calculus and physics in classes of 15-30 students with professional instructors at semester speed sounds much better than trying to master difficult weed-out subjects in classes of 200-300 students with TAs at quarter velocity. Not to mention the $30K/year price differential. Just sayin’.
Anyone get off of it yet? I know some of the other UCs have either closed out their waitlists or are still going… Berkeley and UCLA are still going which may open some spaces
