@Alk2000 I’m thinking because his essays were pretty incredible and I’m not just speaking as a mom… I am thinking perhaps he won them over in what he said in his essays because he did talk about his downfall in academics and incorporated it into the theme of his essays. Trust me the scores in academics are bad. If I remember right I think his cumulative GPA is a 3.2 and his AC T score and he got the same score all three times is a 21. So again there’s obviously something besides his academics that at least put him on the waitlist instead of a flat out denial notification.
Will they ever release… "Your application is currently being considered for an admission decision. "
Does anybody know when they’re going to finish sending out decisions? By the end of March, I’d hope
@Meap433 My Son was waitlisted as well. To be honest he is more upset than he was letting on because it is the only school in California that he would have considered going to he said. Because his main thing is to go to school on the East Coast. So he is more upset that he was waitlisted than if he had been denied because as he says ,” Close but not close enough to be admitted .”
For those who are asking I called UC Riverside yesterday since we are waiting on the decision for my son’s application, and they told me “ Yes although decisions started coming out March 1, the updates are now on rolling admissions and everybody will know what their status is by March 31. “
Does anybody know if it means you are more likely to get rejected the longer it takes for them to notify you?
@camiemartinez How many tabs do you have on your portal? Do you just have home and profile tabs?
@camiemartinez I don’t believe it has anything to do with waiting a longer period of time. In 2016, I saw Freshmen get accepted in late April and early May. However, that was a small percentage of students as almost everyone found out in March. There is still a possibility of gaining admission. As long as your portal still says “Your application is currently being considered for an admission decision” then you are still ok.
I was accepted on 03/08 and I finally received my acceptance package today (3/20).
Hey guys random question for those still awaiting a decision. I just got an email from UCR with my financial aid award but my portal still says awaiting an admission decision. Is this a good sign? Has anybody received their financial aid award before being accepted or rejected? I was even awarded a UCR grant. Which aren’t school grants only awarded if your accepted due to school budgets?
@fpk1210 So are you talking about an actual email that you got in your personal email account? Or are you talking about another message in your portal? Not that my son will be receiving any type of financial award. But I’m just curious how you were sent that award. Only because so far he hasn’t heard anything it’s been crickets as far as his notification of UC Riverside.
I received an email from the financial aid office at UCR to my personal email. @Andreq
@fpk1210 Yes, I believe it is a good sign. I had classmates (c/o 2020) who got their financial aid before their acceptance. Personally, in 2016, I received my financial aid details and I was waitlisted.
Hello people, I have a big question. I received this email from UCR a couple of days ago, does this mean something? Is this their honors program (like the UC Regents/Honors thing)? I am so confused. Here is the email (partial, the whole thing is so long):

@myfavoritepet Have you been accepted to UCR yet? If so then my guess is that they want you to apply to this. It is their honors program. Not sure if there are any funds associated with their program but there are definite perks. Check out http://honors.ucr.edu/admissions/ and see what it says there about the program.
@myfavoritepet Yes, that is apparently their invitation to the honors program (not regents).
It still says I am being considered for admission decision and I still have all the tabs!
What does rolling actually mean? and how does it relate to someone’s chance of being admitted?
@california2018 Rolling means that notifications will continue to be coming out until their set date that it will stop. When I called them yesterday they told me that March 1 notifications started going out and then they are on rolling admissions and that everybody will have their notification whether they got in or not by March 31. Rolling admissions the way it was explained to me is that the computer randomly spits it out either from their denied group, their accepted group or their waitlist group.
