Hi all,
Basically, I screwed up because I had no idea that it takes actual DAYS to get official transcripts, and I’ve only just now requested transcripts from my high school via parchment.com – however, my college is not available on that site, and I have to request them in person. The office is closed and I cannot do it until monday, but the transcripts are due on July 1st… if both of my transcripts do not make it to UCR by July 1st, what will happen? I’m so afraid that they’ll cancel my admissions because of my foolishness.
Yes, they can, and probably will, rescind your admissions.
Check if the language is “postmarked by” or “received by” July 1st. If it’s postmarked by, then you might be okay with a rush order on Monday and making sure your registrar’s office mails it out in time.
Otherwise, road trip? A lot of people in this situation end up hand delivering their transcripts to the university.
I see…
Earlier, I called the admissions office and was told that it needed to be “postmarked by” the date. She also told me to email the admissions about my situation, and they should “understand”–which, I don’t know if that’s true or not.
Unfortunately, my school is lame and has explicitly stated that they don’t offer rush service. I’m really hoping that I won’t have to appeal, but if that’s the case, then may luck be on my side, I guess.
Don’t email, CALL the admissions office on Monday and explain.
Wouldn’t you want a paper trail in this case though? I think an email to multiple people in the admissions office would be more conducive.
Good point, probably do both.
My concern was that an email might not get read for 4-5 days, which may hurt the OP if it is a hard July 1 deadline. If you speak to someone they can make the note right away.
OP, tell them you are sending it THAT DAY and make sure you get someone’s name
@luckie1367 So when I call them Monday, I should say that I’m sending it then? It could work, but when they receive the transcript at last, they will see that the postmark isn’t actually on July 1st or before.
I’ve been reading some other posts and apparently it depends on the UC? As in, some UCs will simply warn you about the missing documents or put a hold on your account, while others will immediately kick you out. There’s even a claim that they typically have a “grace period” of maybe 1 week, and that they’ll be lenient if I make sure to contact them first. I don’t know how much of this is true, but I’m hoping that the latter is.
I think the common thing is that if you let them know they will be late, you should be okay. But like I said, make sure you get the name of the person with whom you spoke.
Make sure you tell them that your school doesn’t have rush processing, but you are sending it the quickest way possible.
Thank you so much! I’ll definitely try that as soon as Monday arrives.
