I was wondering what does the school health insurance cover and is there any place where i would find more information about it. And also i was wondering should i stay with my current health insurance (idk the company but i know it is provided by USPS) or should i switch to the school insurance?

i cant comment on ucr insurance…

but what most people do is… if they have insurance, they would just send a waiver to the office.

the uc insurance covers everything done on campus ( lab, general check ups, ect) out referrals and ER visits you pay 10% of the price,

If you already have insurance you might as well submit a waiver form and save yourself $200+ per quarter.

If you already have health insurance coverage, opt out and save some $$$. Just make sure your current insurance meets the following UCR requirements: [Campus Health - Waiver](<a href=“Health | Student Health Services | University of California, Riverside”>Health | Student Health Services | University of California, Riverside)

If you submit the waiver, you will receive a confirmation email.

There is a deadline.

Thank you for all your help everyone, and another question. I was wondering does the BlueCross BlueShield insurance from the Federal Employee Program fit the requirement for the wavier?

Yes it does. I have that insurance and I got the waiver done a week ago.

Thanks for everyone’s help. Btw when are we gonna get a notification that our status will no longer be Pending?

I got an email 2 days later saying I was accepted and credit would be posted on my student account… I don’t know how to check that.

My email said that the credit would be posted by September 13th.

I received my confirmation email the day after I submitted my waiver so I was “pending” for only a day.

I do not know how they apply the credit (i.e., one lump sum, in parts) so I’ll just have to wait and check in Growl in mid-September.

I just checked my current activities on Growl and I was charged $218 for UGRAD HEALTH INS PREMIUM-F but I sent in a waiver. Am I supposed to pay it and get money back later?

Yeah, they will take off the $218 once they process your waiver.

You don’t have to pay the fee right now, but if you do pay it your account will be credited once the waiver is processed.

just curious: is the $218 health insurance charged every quarter or just one quarter for the entire academic year?

err quarterrr.

It is per quarter just like all your other fees. If you think that is expensive wait until the 2010 freshmen have to pay $200+ for the rec fee in 2014. At least you can opt out of the health insurance and save yourself $600+ unlike the rec fee.

I have a Question. I sent in my health insurance waiver, and i got a note saying i have to send in a documentation of eligibility. what does that mean??

That’s interesting…they didn’t ask me for any additional documentation and it was approved.

I’d send them a copy of your insurance card, front and back…

Let us know what happens.

I know, my friend didnt get asked either…

Did you fill out everything on the waiver form? Maybe you forgot to fill out the company’s contact number or the university was unable to contact the company in order to verify that you are in fact insured.
