UCR Introduction

I have been recently accepted to UCR, but still not sure if this school is the best for me. I have a few questions to ask:

-Science field/medical pathway
-Major: Environmental Science

  1. What are the pros and cons of UC Riverside, specifically for students in science or medical major!
  2. How are the housing like for freshmen?
  3. Is Highlander Day really beneficial?
  4. I keep getting emails about UCR’s Honors program. I’m not sure if it will be of a struggle to undertake or that it will be beneficial for me in the future, like getting into medical school after. I know the deadline passed for 2018 but would I be able to apply for the following year
  5. I described myself as an introvert, how hard is it to socialize and make friends there (try not to be general), programs?
  6. What fraternities are there that I might be interested in? I don’t want those stereotypical fraternities with parties and stuff…
  7. I like doing community services like cleaning the environment, so what are the clubs available that I might be interested in?
  8. I heard about a thing in UCR where you could have a group or a buddy that are in the same major something about how effective it may be like improving your GPA…
  9. I’m Chinese and Vietnamese, are there any activities that are right for me?
  10. Is there a career center and/or a personal mentor that could give me advice for the next few years in UCR? I want to become a nurse/physician assistant (or something medicine) but not sure if I am going in the right path as I am currently a environmental science major
  11. How hard is it to go to UCR school of medicine?

UC Riverside has top notch programs (many in 2018 US News Top 100 Rank) and great, diverse people! Is increasing in rank and growing faster than ANY OTHER UC for a reason! Still has that “personal touch” with friendly, down to earth, helpful people without entitled attitudes (that some other schools have)…you will make a lot of friends! The only con that it, Merced, and Davis get on occasion is being made fun of due to “crappy” inland location for those that want to be by the “big-city” or beach. Of note…Riverside County is the third fastest growing county IN THE NATION with rapid growth projected through 2065! Great school that is still rapidly growing…take a tour and see it for yourself!
