UCR junior transfer student placed in ARC35?...... MAE

I came into UCR thinking I had already been cleared for math since I took a UC transferable math course at my community college but after doing research I found that most incoming students have to take the MAE placement exam. I was personally never notified from the school that i had to take it but I took it just in case. The first part was easy, but the second part was hard since it was math i took 4-5 years ago? I ended up getting the lowest placement in arc35. I’m worried. Is it uncommon for juniors to be in that placement? I’m not a stem major by the way, i’m a CHASS major. (sociology/admin studies) will i be fine if i just deal with it and take it in the fall

I don’t understand why you would need to take a math placement unless your course did not fulfill the quantitative math.
