<p>This just makes me mad. Just because these UCSD professors are getting salary cuts, they want to shut down a University that is helping to educate thousands of students every year? How selfish…</p>
<p>UCR won’t close down. I think a little pay cut for everyone is better than shutting down a school that provides jobs and education for thousands of people. </p>

<p>and really why should the UC’s be any different from any other publicly funded educational systema in California…preschool, elementary school, middle/jr highs, high schools, community colleges, and the CSU’s?? All public education is going to feel the cuts. My response to the hoity-toity UCSD professors who signed this letter, suck it up just like everyone else.</p>
<p>What’s amusing is UCSD professors thinking UCSD is a state flagship university.</p>

Its pitiful to know that there are professors who are only out for themselves. 1UC provides hundreds of jobs and provides education for thousands of students. I cant believes that they are willing to trash that just so they can gain a bit more in their paycheck.</p>
<p>Im pretty sure that there are other professors who feels the same way but they are not selfish enough to bring that up to public and make stupid suggestions to shut down a school.</p>

<p>Its UCSD’s proposal. They are not going to change the whole system because of one school out of 10’s proposal. Also, i believe that the letter only includes signatures from 22 departments while there are 111 departments in UCSD.</p>
<p>wow how ignorant. How is shutting down two important universities and one up and coming help. How about we close UCSD since when is UCSD a flagship UCR is 10 years older than UCSD haha the only flagships are CAL and UCLA</p>

<p>yet half of the ppl at UCSD, if given the chance, would go to UCLA rather than the “flagship” UCSD.
But give the students at UCLA the same option and they would start laughing.</p>
<p>Chris, you really need to know what you’re talking about. Almost every single college has a specific program they really focus on. For UCR, that happens to be Entomology.</p>
<p>And please, I want to know some of the programs in the sciences that UCSD “outranks UCLA by a long shot.”</p>

<p>Now it all makes sense, looking at Chris’s recent posts.</p>
<p>He posted a chance thread yesterday about transferring from UCSD to UCLA, except he has a 2.7 as a PoliSci major. People told him he didn’t even meet the cutoff to even apply (3.0) so he posted that UCSD is a good school and he is happy he is there.</p>
<p>So today he goes on defense for his school, since he can’t go to UCLA…</p>
