so far ucr and ucsb has accepted me...no word from uci or ucsd yet. so which one's better ucr or ucsb? alot of people seem to frown on ucr. the only downside to ucsb is i wont know anybody there. so whats the better choice if all eles fails?

wow ucsb is soo much better!! and many many people in your class won't know anybody there. plus you have roomates, lots of people... i dont think its like the first day of high school ; )

UCR is generally regarded as the "worst" of the UCs. They almost accept everyone that meets the minimum entrance requirements for the UC system. Of course, that may be changing so who knows what will happen in a few years (especially with the emergence of UC Merced).

you should visit both schools and see which seems to be better for you. The schools are going to have very different atmosphere's, so take the tour, talk to students, try to figure out which is right for you. I wouldn't worry about not knowing anybody; most people in the US who go away to college know few if any people when they start and they do just fine. Live in the dorms and you'll meet people right off the bat, plus you can join clubs and so on.

SB by a long shot. SB - better academically and socially. The area is much safer and more gorgeous. I was accepted to both UCSB and UCR and for some reason i choose UCR. Don't make the same mistake i did.

I like ucsb a lot, but I want to say that no school is right for everyone. So ucr might not have been right for hobofromdowntown, that doesn't mean it wouldn't be a better choice for the OP. I say visit both and decide.

UCSB....u wil make cool friends there

if with a scholarship and right major in UCR, will you still chose UCSB?
