Is the orientation to schedule classes for the fall? Is there really a payment we have to make for this? It's weird. Any information on the orientations would be greatly appreciated.

It's a $40 charge that is deferred until you pay for your first quarter and it should be where you register for classes, too.

If you are a transfer student, I know that you go through Bear Tracks:

Bear Tracks

I'm not sure about incoming freshman, though. :)

If you are a freshman:

UC Riverside Bear Facts Orientation: UCR Orientation

It looks like it's $250 if you register by June 1st and $300 after that date. You can pay upfront or defer like I said above. :)

do you revieve confirmation of your day?
cause all i got was that email that said
'this is not a confirmation'
but it listed all the into..
and it's still on my 'to-do' list on myUCR
cause i cant take it out (it's supposed to go away by itself?)

so.
does that mean im offically registered?

i'm going to join in on this orientation talk. i signed up for it but i didn't do the whole family deal. i'm kind of doubting myself. should i bring family or not? if someone here has gone to this freshman orientation, did you bring family and if you did, was it worth it?

I brought my family, but only because I came from NorCal and they didnt have anything better to do during the day. To be honest, if you're an independent person, they don't really need to be there, but I guess it helps because you won't have to explain a bunch of stuff to them later on.

Greetings! fellow to-be Highlanders.

I just wanted to say, I'm a bear facts orientation counselor, and I attended my own orientation just last year.

The fact that I am now an orientation leader speaks volumes of what orientation can do for UCR students.

It helps you find your first friends in college.

No joke, the two homies I roomed with during orientation ended up being VERY close friends even today.

Orientation also helps you figure out which classes to take, as you enroll during your 2nd day in orientation.

The over night experience also gives you first hand experience of how college will feel like.

I won't lie to ya, but the late night of 1st day orientation is AWESOME. Rock climbing at night, club dancing at pentland, party, etc. Its gonna be fun.

In terms of the financial qualms... there is a defer payment option I believe, that can be paid later in Sept.

Sign up, if you haven't already.

Even if you can only sign up for make up day.. you should.

Classes and advice on what to take is crucial

-SP

Hey SP! Does the orientation run on two days? I'm a transfer student, and I signed up for the Bear tracks. They only let you choose one day and it runs from 8am - 6pm. I'm just confused if the bear tracks is the orientation for transfer students or not...

The earlier you sign up for orientation, the earlier you get to pick your classes. (TRUST ME, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT) You don't want to be still be trying to get into Bus 10/spanish 1 or some other req half way through your sophmore year... If you dont goto orientation, your pretty much ****ed for classes. (and even late dates of orientation.)

Yah its for transfer students as well, i think you're just signing up a bit late..but its ok... yah sign up for that date. And everything will be fine

I registered for Orientation, did not complete the…I think…“pre-orientation workshop” because I was busy. My date was the second or third one open. I received confirmation from my dad’s bank that the credit card payment was sent to the school but they have never sent me a confirmation email. I do not want UCR to scew me over on this. Does anyone know what is going on?
