My son, a Fall 2014 applicant saw on MyUCR, that he is required to fulfill the Entry-Level Writing Requirement (ELWR) and the Math Advisory Exam (MAE). How best to satisfy these requirements?

Is this something that all the UC's will want fulfilled?

Is this because of test scores?

Also, does UCR superscore? My son took the SAT 3 times, but there is only 1 test score date showing up out of three.

Maybe the score that is showing up is what he self-reported on the application? I know we ordered his SAT scores to be sent to the UC's he applied to on November 27, 2013.

Anyone know? Thanks.

If your son goes to the test placement website at UCR, it will state how you can be exempt from the testing by high scores on AP English/ACT or SAT tests.
If he is not exempt, he needs to take the APWE exam preferably in May. If he waits until Fall Quarter, he cannot schedule any English classes until he takes the exam or ends up in a remedial class. All UC’s require the APWE if you are not exempt.

For the Math placement exam, again on the website it will state how you can be exempt from testing.
FYI: All UC’s have different placement exams and exemptions. My older son currently goes to UCD and had to take the APWE, Math placement and Chem placement tests regardless of his AP or ACT/SAT scores.

I believe UCR like all other UC’s will take the highest scores for ACT/SAT within 1 sitting.
My younger son applied this Fall and all his scores were sent on 10/3 and they did show up this month.
I hope I was some help
