Hello! So because UC applications are due on November 30 at the latest, I wanted to get some feedback on my chances.

I currently go to UCR as a second-year, and my current major is CHASS Neuroscience. HOWEVER, I am in the process of switching to Sociology and will be applying as a Sociology major to UCSD AND UCI.

My prereqs are in the process of being completed, and I'm honestly more than halfway done. My current GPA is approximately a 3.0, only because I took a Calculus last spring quarter because it was in the curriculum for Neuroscience, and I did terrible in that class, dropping my GPA greatly. However, I am doing really well with the classes I am taking this quarter and my expected quarter gpa will be ~3.8-4.0, helping my overall GPA tremendously.

Can people who have successfully transferred from UCR to UCSD help me out? Will the admission boards be looking at my cumulative GPA of FALL '12 (when i started) to SPRING '13? or will they be looking more of FALL '12 to SPRING '14 and judge by my trends? because honestly, i hope that they'll be doing the second option. Also, how important is GPA compared to personal statements and extracurricular? you have no idea how badly i want to transfer to UCSD. i feel like it's my calling.
Please, any kind of help will be appreciated.
