UCR Transfer 2017

Hey everyone! Congratulations for everyone who got in!

I applied for Business Admin with Business Econ as a backup and got accepted into Business Econ. I’m not sure what I might have done wrong since I’ve seen others get accepted with my gpa. I tried to change my major for Business Admin in the portal, but its not even an option. I was really hoping to get into Business Admin for their concentration in accounting. Is there anyway to change my major to Business Admin? Also, it seems weird that they would accept me into Business Econ if it requires First Year Calculus and I’m taking Business Calculus.

My stats are:
Major:Business Admin
GPA: 3.4
PreReqs: All but Business Math which I’m doing now and Intermediate Econ, which wasnt avaible at my school.
TAG: UCSB
IGETC: Finished and should receive an AS-T in Business Administration

@UCR094 it’s not all about your gpa for you to enter a preferred major. For prereqs you should have taken call 1 and cal 2 and statistic. If you got accepted into a alternate major is because they first rejected you with your preferred major. There was someone who got rejected with a 3.6 gpa; and however I got accepted with a 3.59 gpa tagged. so is not all about gpa.

@babysnow I understand what you’re saying but Business Administration also accepts Business Calculus (Math 22 at UCR); however, Business Econ does not. I am confused how I was accepted into Business Econ and did not meet the requirement, but rejected from Business Admin and I did meet the requirements. But thank you for replying!

@UCR094 hmm… did you do all the prereqs assist gives you? Like stats, acctg and computer science?

@UCR904 Thats weird… well it definitely doesn’t have to do with a lack of prereqs. I also applied as BA and backed up with BE. I am missing one computer class and was still accepted into Business Prep which is a temporary major for BA transfers. Maybe you could call and ask them?

@babysnow @yeahkevinn I completed all prereqs on assists and have a 3.6 in the required classes. The only thing that was left to do was math, which I currently have a B in and stated in my application that I was taking this semester. I called my counselor now and she said she would call me back. I hope its just a misunderstanding because I really want to go to UCR!

Does anyone know why some people still haven’t received a decision yet? Im still waiting and I tagged with UCR.

Same, still waiting

@plaid31 Same im TAGed too. At first I was ok since my last name is a V, but now I’m kinda getting worried lol. Especially because all my friends who have also TAGed have already recived acceptance.

@Brokeandhopeful1 My last name starts with A, so I doubt it’s by last name. Idk what’s going on with them. They should’ve determined the results since March…

I’m still waiting as well!

Is it true that all of the campus apartments are full?

Anyone else receive your financial aid offer today? Thoughts?

Ok at least im not waiting alone, my last name is with an H and my friend who didn’t tag was accepted already and her las name is with an H too, so im super nervous :frowning:

@ald6191 The offer was honestly waaaay more generous than I anticipated. I’d basically only pay $5,000 out of pocket. Everything else looks like it’s covered through grants & scholarships.

@thinkweism i haven’t been able to open it yet. The initial one was leaving me short more than UCSD’s offer. I live in San Diego so it makes more sense to attend here. I like UCR’s public policy major but not too sold on moving there just for that. I am waiting for UCLA and UCB as many are before I decide. I also received admission to Cal State San Marcos today.

Got my financial aid award a few hours ago if anyone’s waiting for that!

@brpere1175 where do I go to check it?

Do you guys mean the preliminary award or actual award? I have the financial aid estimate on the account home but I haven’t gotten my actual award yet?

@ald6191 Yeah, it sounds like SD would give you a better option since you’re local - I definitely don’t live in Riverside so I’m surprised with how much they’re giving, along with the honors program offer. I do know if UCSD offers me admission, I’m taking it - even if the financial aid isn’t stellar. But Riverside is waaay closer to home so it’s a tough choice for me, even if I don’t care much for the area.

Fingers crossed for you on UCLA & UCB!
