UCR Transfer 2017

@dianeuh96 any reason you’re waiting on UCR ? I’d imagine you’ve already SIR’d to Davis ?

@liamliamliam Just SIRd to UC Davis actually. I was going to wait to see how much $$ Riverside would offer me but I thought about it and Davis is better for my major and closer to home for me (2hrs). No point in me waiting for Riverside when Davis is a better option. I wanted to go to UCR cuz I’m from NorCal and I’d love to ‘explore’ a bit and move to SoCal but I don’t know. Maybe for grad school or something. I’m a family person so Davis is a little more beneficial for me. I can come home more often compared to going to UCR. Good luck to everyone else waiting though!

hi im an international student in Japan and applied UCR with GPA 3.32
haven’t heard back from UCR so does that means that I’m getting rejection anytime soon?
Btw I’m hoping to major international studies!

Guys if I am living in an apartment provided by UCR housing, is there a way that I can see who is essentially moving in with me? Any other information would be great!

Major at UCLA: Philosophy
Major at UC Berkeley: Legal Studies
Transfer GPA: 3.76
Pre-Reqs: Completed for UC Berkeley, Incomplete for UCLA
IGETC: Completed
Personal-Insight Questions: very strong
extra academic info: Deans List, honors program
extra curricular activities: sports, full time work, volunteer work
Schools Accepted So Far: UCI, UCR, UCSD, UC Merced, UC Davis, UCSC
Waiting on: UCLA and UC Berkeley

What are my chances??

Has anyone received there UCR packets yet?

@dianeuh96 I lived in socal for 7 years since i moved from Korea. I lived in irvine/newport beach, one of the nicest neighborhood in southern california, My ex gf used to go to UCR so I basically dormed in UCR on every weekends. I can confirm Riverside is one of the shittiest neighborhood I’ve been in so far with high crime rate. The school itself looks like UCI, clean and new but the surrounding area sucks. It’s literally in the middle of desert. UCR kids’ graduation rate is 75%, now that is EXTREMELY low, and is also reflected in actual atmosphere of the community. Yes, there are nice neighbors of course, where her frat house was at, however, if you have passion in and value education, or even just care about the surrounding enviornment, UCR should be the last choice of yours. I got in as biz econ but already submitted SIR to UCSB.

@JustgotintoUCSB OOOOO. I had no clue to be honest. LOL. My admissions for UCR is still under review but I got into UC Davis so I already SIR’d for UCD. No point in waiting for UCR when their humanities department is not as good as UCD’s. At least for Poli Sci that is. Hope you have a great time at UCSB though

@dianeuh96 Thank you! yeah you have a great time and meet many good people at UC Davis as well. Your next 2 years will change your life permanently omg i can’t waittttttttt cc life sucked f k!

I still haven’t heard anything and it doesn’t seem like anyone is getting anything anymore so I’m assuming I’ll be waitlisted lol

I am still pending for CS. Last year UCR rejected me on the last day (April 30th, I think), but some people got accepted around that time, so I am hopeful.

@lenocturne What were your stats last year? Had you completed all the prereqs for your major and the IGETC?

@prettysweet20 last year I had 3.88, major GPA 4.0, but was missing linear, DE and physics series.
This year I have 3.75, all prerequisites completed by end of spring (DE in progress).

Admitted on April 14th into alternate major Computer Science

my deadline for cal state is Monday so I’ll most likely end up submitting my SIR there because UCR has been playing around for two months. What a BS experience.

Riverside is not in the middle of the desert lol. In comparison to Orange County, yeah it might not be good looking. Riverside looks like it hasn’t changed since the sixties tbh but it’s beautiful.

Riverside is definitely not in the middle of the desert. I would know I live in the middle of the freaking desert (Barstow, CA). I’ve lived in Riverside and other cities the crime rate there is better than other places, especially the high desert areas like Victorville, Hesperia, Apple Valley and Barstow. It still is a good city and I like the campus. The graduation rate for UCR has gone up. How is 75% extremely low when the national average is at 59%. Now that is low. At least Riverside is above that.

Well you have awesome stats lol you’ll probably get in @lenocturne

@prettysweet20 at this point idk. I got waitlisted at UCI and rejected from SD and LA, so I am pretty discouraged… But we will see
