I'm attending ucr this fall of 2014. I don't want to sound ungrateful but I really don't want to go there. I'm a student who worked their ass off in school and received 4.04 weighted gpa and 1980 sat. I did sports, volunteered, & leadership (asb treasurer) I was very disappointed to find that I was rejected from every uc except ucr. I'm like the guy from 50/50 who did everything right yet still got cancer. I was wondering if anyone knows if I can transfer from ucr after my first year to another uc. any uc. (other than Davis or Santa Cruz)

It is possible. Maybe you should consider a JC though, since transferring to a UC is more likely from a JC. You could do co-enrollment at UCR and the local community college. Check it out though, the community there is really laid-back and nice. Make up for your disappointment and get really involved! Also, Redlands is near there and they accept applications year-round, maybe try that school or other rolling admissions schools. What is your major?

Maybe do what people cal “repeal”? I am guessing you are comp sci or something impacted at most institutions? Don’t waste you time being upset if you go to ucr, you could do the honor’s program and do research and not worry about really smart people stealing the top scores and grades in classes.

If you really don’t want to attend UCR go to a community college and then transfer. Might as well save yourself a ton of money and actually graduate from a school you want.

I wouldn’t compare your situation with someone getting diagnosed with cancer lol… That’s besides the point tho. I would just listen to everyone else on this thread and consider going to a CC. It’s much more difficult to transfer from a UC to another UC. More than 93% of transfers are from community colleges. It is possible though. Just make sure you do something different during that time to prove why you should be given a slot at another UC. I would strongly suggest going to a CC, saving some money and guaranteeing your spot at the UC of your choice by TAG. Good luck and hopefully whatever decision you are happy with!
