I got admission at both places for electrical engineering. I have talked to many successful engineers, and they all told me to go to UCR! They say that Cal Poly is not known outside of California, and a UC would offer a more rounded education. In addition to having a well rounded education UCR offers research opportunities, and Cal Poly doesn't. My fellow class mates tell me to go to Cal Poly because the engineering program is supposed to be very good. I am torn between these two schools, and I only have a few days to make a decision. Please give me your opinions on which school to attend!

US News ranks Cal Poly SLO 6th for best undergrad engineering program at engineering schools whose highest degree is a bachelor's or master's. They listed a total of 50 universities... I don't see UCR anywhere on the list.

Oh yeah, and for EE, Cal Poly SLO is ranked 4th.

I wouldn't put my future in the hands of US News, but based on my personal opinion... umm... Cal Poly SLO. Their engineering program is supposed to be amazing. At my school, UCR is the forbidden school. No one goes there... lol.

Good luck on your decision. In the end, it's up to you. Don't place too much (or any) weight on what I say. I'm still just a HS Junior. sigh
