I'm a international student from China. I want to pursue my Master Degree in CA. Now I have two admissions--- UCR and SJSU.
My major is Electrical Engineering. And I want to find a job in Silicon Valley when I graduate.
I know UCR is UCs ,so she has a good reputation. But UCR's EE Dept is not very strong.
SJSU is located at the core of Silicon Valley. It seems that SJSU is a decent school in Valley. And there wiil be more internship chances.

As a international student , I could only acquire a little infomantion from Internet. So you guys give me some tips to do my final decision. THanks

Well UCR is a better school than SJSU but if you want to find a job in Silicon Valley specifically, just go with SJSU. I would think opportunities would be greater from UCR just because UCR is in the middle of LA. LA = internships.

csusj offers a more hands-on experience. UCR is more hypothetical

I was an undergraduate at SJSU for 2 years... went back to community college and transferred to UCR. TRUST ME I HAVE THE BEST PERSPECTIVE.

YOU WANT to go to SJSU for electrical engineering if you want to work in Silicon Valley. SJSU has the BEST CONNECTIONS to direct hire in Silicon Valley while Bourns Engineering at UCR has NOT MUCH of a reputation yet!!

CHOOSE SJSU, FAR FAR FAR BETTER. Take it from me! I regret changing schools, I wish I could go back to SJSU

mekakitsune can you goto some detail why your prefer SJSU over UCR? Right now I am going to SJSU really want to get out, UCR is one of the school I wouldn't mind transferring to.

Given your field of study then I would choose SJSU. SJSU has excellent engineering departments that UCR cannot even begin to compare to. SJSU will give you a practical education that you can apply immediately to one of the many employment opportunities in Silicon Valley. If you were majoring in the natural or agricultural sciences, then I would recommend taking a closer look at UCR. SJSU's close proximity to Silicon Valley may mean more engineering employers to choose from.

As for the claim that UCR is "in the middle of LA", it is actually quite a bit outside of LA and not extremely close to any major employment centers that pay well. If you want to find a decent paying position, you may face challenges.

I am entering a grad program at SJSU in August. I considered UCR and a private university before selecting SJSU.
