So I just got off the waitlist for UCSB where I was admitted pre-biology. It is closer to home, costlier than UCR, more prestigious, etc. I am also a pre-med.
At UCR I got chancellor’s scholarship and admission into the college of engineering with a major in bioengineering BS/MS, it is a little farther away from home, and has a new medical school that has great connections to the undergraduate school. I already SIRed here.
I can’t decide. 
Chancellor’s scholarship will look really good on your resume, and will trump – IMO – whatever prestige UCSB has over UCR. Go to UCR, Take advantage of all that the scholarship offers, make connections, and SHINE.
