UCR Work Study

I’ve been awarded the work study award, but I’m skeptical on taking it.
What jobs do they offer you (on and off campus)? Like do you have to take specific jobs that are listed or can you just work wherever if you get it signed off?
Ex: will the school assign me as a janitor lol or can I work at someplace like Jamba Juice

@Lololo5 I am planning on transferring to UCR but I am at a community college and have a “work study” job at the CCC I’m currently at. I don’t know if the process will be the same at UCR but I know for me here, I was able to look up job postings and choose where I wanted to work and apply, I know our career center would help us look for jobs but I also think you can get an off-campus job under work study as well at the university level. I highly doubt you will be placed/forced somewhere you don’t want to work.

Another thing to keep in mind, one of my fellow peer advisors ( I actually work as a peer advisor in my schools financial aid office :))was told not to take out the work study award because she qualified for more money without it, but I would definitely talk to your financial aid counselor regarding this. Working on campus has its HUGE perks so I would really think about it before you decide to reject it.

There should be a website that UCR has that lists job postings, both on and off campus. I haven’t received my financial aid package so I haven’t checked for on campus job yets
