I am a senior in highschool and i am waiting for my acceptance letter from ucr which i have not yet recieved, and i am getting worried.
can i get into ucr with an unweighted gpa of 3.0 with an sat of 1730?
was on varsity tennis for four years and was captain my senior year. i also was part of the orchestra for about three years. But on the down side, i had gotten a D in ap bio and recieved a D and an F for ap calculus my junior year. but do uc’s look at gpa or letter grades? if not ucr, i assume there is no other UC i can get into, correct?
at most, will i be able to get into csun or csuf???
HELP PLEASE
All UC’s and CSU’s look at GPA and Letter grades. If you got a D or F in any of your a-g courses, you will be expected to give an explanation and retake the class. Did you retake the classes to meet the a-g requirement?. If not, then you have not heard because you are probably disqualfiied for not meeting these requirements. What is your UC GPA? http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
I would contact your guidance counselor to see what your next step will be. Here is the UC/CSU course matrix to help you understand the requirements:

but is ap biology and ap calculus considered an a-g requirement? because i got accepted to csu northridge, channel island, and los angeles…
According to the CSU/UC matrix, you have to repeat the course if it is a required a-g. Did you repeat the courses or were these courses above and beyond the required 3 years Science and Math? Also these are non-impacted CSU’s where you have been admitted, not a UC. UC and CSU a-g courses are the same but you have to get a passing grade of a C in all a-g courses for the UC even if you have to repeat the course and even if you meet the minimum a-g course requirements. No D or F in a class not repeated will be accepted by a UC… The non-impacted Cal States must be more lenient.
CSU’s & UC’s mainly look at your UC GPA however. However since you got a D and F in those courses, you had to have retaken them.
I suggest going to a CC for 2 years and then transferring to a UC.
There is also a TAG option for all UC’s except: UC Berkeley, UCLA, and UCSD.
Good luck
yes AP calculus and AP Biology were above and beyond the required 3 years.
I also asked my counselor and she had said it was not a part of the a-g requirement list…
good chance; did u get in?
Did you apply/get into any other UCs?
Congrats on getting in. UCR is pretty good I hear.
