UCR's review from a alum.

^ same
i didn’t apply to UCR
just got in through referral

Did you get accepted to those out of state schools?

I got accepted to BU and some CSUs. Got waitlisted at Wake Forest… I couldn’t afford BU and didn’t want to wait for WFU, so I chose UCR.

^Do you mind sharing how you chose UCR over which CSU’s?

“^Do you mind sharing how you chose UCR over which CSU’s?”
UC > State…

Can you expand an this a bit? I get that most UC’s are “better” then most CSU’s, but I wondered if at some point there might be some overlap, depending on what you’re looking for. An obvious example might be SLO for engineering, but I was also wandering about the "hands on " vs. the “research” focus, or the small size at some csu’s. Is that not true?

CSU Fullerton, Northridge, Pomona, and East Bay (<– totally random choice since I’m a socal girl).

It’s definitely true that some CSUs would be better than UCs depending on your major. I chose UCR because I wanted a “real” college experience (traditional campus, dorms, the works…). If I went to a cal state, I’d probably commute. And… my decision had a lot to do with money… so yeah. hahah. I’m paying 1k to go to UCR this year… I think it’s a GOOD deal. l0l0l0l

^Thanks’…
