I know that UCs are seen as more prestige than CSUs but I was wondering if anyone knew the order of all UCs and CSUs ranking for premed.

but there’s also a lot you can learn about this just through google. It’s hard to just generally have everything neatly ranked - you might want to do more research.

Pre-med is not a major so I doubt their are official rankings out there. You need to pick a major such as Biology and then see if there are UC’s rankings for that major. I personally think rankings can be used as a guideline to narrow down some schools, but the criteria that they use to rank some schools can be really ridiculous.

I would consider the overall rankings of the schools to be indicative of the majority of their programs for the UC’s, I would put them as follows:
UCB/
UCLA
UCSD
UCD/UCSB/UCI/UCSC/UCR/UCM

For CSU’s, it can be more difficult since some schools may be very highly ranked for a few programs but not others, but here is my top CSU’s:
Cal Poly SLO
SDSU
CSULB
SJSU
CSU Fullerton
Cal Poly Pomona

All the UCs are fine for a premed student. There is no ranking since premed isn’t a major.

The CSUs can be more dicey as a premed since traditionally, the UCs are the schools where premeds go. Not saying that a CSU can’t get into med school.

Tell us more about YOU.

What are your grades? test scores?

What will your major be? (and choose something that will work for another career in case you don’t go to med school)

how much will your family pay?

It is doubtful that you will get a med school-worthy-MCAT score, so be sure to keep your options open.

You don’t test well, so the chance that you would score high enough on the MCAT is very very low.

Your GPA may get you into one of the lower UCs. Apply to Riverside and Merced for sure…along with others that interest you.
