SATs: 2000 but am retaking and predict to do at least 2100
SAT IIs: math IIc (score unknown yet but probably in 600's) lit (700) writing 740
extra currics: varsity track since soph year, broadcast journalism (school tv show anchor), piano for 12 years, japanese brush painting for 12 years, community service (presidential award received for over 100 hours), photography 5 years (with work displayed in magazine)
summer activities: travel all over world, lead america congressional conference in washington D.C., class on media and politics at Columbia university, campaign management stuff
one of "who's who among america's high school students"
looking to be a poli sci major
work experience=3 months at country club before senior year</p>

<p>grades dropped a bit junior year (to around an average of all B+'s for the year) but I went to a prep school on the east coast (boarding school) for the year and it was an adjustment challenge. ( I AM FROM CALIFORNIA)
I returned to my old public high school....does this look bad
what are my chances at....

<p>Ivies don't sound realistic here. If you did less well at boarding school, it says your public isn't very rigorous and even at the top preps, only the top go ivy. A 2250 plus might put you in the running.</p>

<p>You should be in at NYU, GW and schools in that range.</p>

<p>I basically love that we post on each other's manic college posts! You're totally in, and apply to ivies. You'll write a really great essay and it will get you in.

<p>Danya, you're not doing anyone a favor by posting fantasy posts. Find me an unhooked candidate who got into ivies with a 3.6/2000 because their essay was good! I'd rather be realistic now when there is still an opportunity to change the list rather than face a lot of thin envelopes in April.</p>

<p>You're GPA and SAT is a little bit under average at UCB.
However, I think you have a good chance. It's probably a slight reach.</p>

UCSB Slight Reach (I know people say it's a safe match, but UCSB is pretty damn difficult to get into. I know many people with 3.8-4.0s who got in, and people with GPAs under this who did not.)

<p>Might want to look at Colgate or Holy Cross both better than Boston College.</p>
