UC's and the AP test

after being accepted, will auditing a class second semester of senior year affect your admission to that school?

also, I decided not to take one of the AP tests that I said I would take on my app. So I called the office of admissions earlier today just to ensure that would be no big deal, and he said doing that could be a reason for the school to revoke my admission because it's considered a change in my app (or something like that). but i remembered reading on a thread here that not taking an AP test wouldn't make a difference. So...am I safe not taking the test or should I shed the extra $88+late fee and buy the test that I know I'm not gonna pass just in case?

I think I was the original poster of that thread.

I was asking if I would have to notify colleges about not taking a self study AP test. The answer for that was no.

Your scenario is different.

Because you are taking the AP class with the AP test, I think you have to notify colleges if you don't take the tests. It could affect your admission.

When you were accepted you got a letter stating pretty specifically what the terms were. I'd go back and read it one more time. If you went through all the trouble to call the office of admissions, and they said it could be a reason for the school to revoke your admission, I'd take their word for it. I believe the letter also says your admission is based on the assumption you will continue to be taking the classes you delineated on your application, and passing them with a good grade. Unless auditing means different things at your school, those classes won't show up on your final transcript with a final grade. So I would think that would also be grounds for revoking your admission.

ahhh... this also applies to me because i took AP US GOV. 1st semester and stated that i would take the ap exam, but i didnt register for it =/

negative -- NO college cares about taking an AP test in senior year. Only you care bcos it might get you credit. If you don't want the college credit, don't take the test. (Assumes that your HS does not factor AP scores into your final grades.)

OTOH, if you told UC that you would taking a a-g class for Credit in the Spring, and then you drop it (or 'audit', a distinction without a difference), yes, they WILL care.

bluebayou, i agree with you, its your money, your decision to take the test as long as your still taking the class
to be safe, if i get in, ill send a letter saying, i am taking x tests and not taking y tests, because i have heard that they dont care, they just want to be informed about it.

sarah:

save the stamp. The UCs (and private colleges) just don't care about an AP test score once admissions are done; but, of course, they do care if you pass the class and maintain a B average senior year.

Thanks for the responses
I logged onto the UC Pathways site yesterday to view the app I turned in back in Nov and I realized there wasn't even a spot for us to report which AP exams we planned to take senior year. hah.
