UC's, CSU's and a D

The final grades have been input into my course and I have ended up with a D in AP Physics C: Mechanics as a senior.

How will this affect my admissions process?

I am in the top 10 percent of my graduating class and have taken 5 AP courses and passed all of the tests I have taken. I have been in various leadership positions since my sophomore year and have a weighted GPA of 3.87. My SAT scores were 1250 out of 1600. I have been part of two sports and have been doing community service at my local elementary school since sophmore year.

I have only ever recives a D in one class and this is the only occasion. I have not yet been accepted into any schools as I am only in my first semester.

What should I do? I’ve been working hard the past 4 years and id hate to see it all go to waste for one class. Should I consider dropping the course? Should I show that I can improve my next semester and when should I contact admissions about my below average grade ?

Thank you for reading and I hope to find some answers soon.

Ps. The schools that I have applied to are

UCLA
UCSB
UCR
UCI
CSUSB
CSULA
CPP
San Diego State

Getting a D or F Senior year could result in any acceptances being rescinded. You need to contact the UC’s as follows and each CSU individually to find out your options.
Freshmen: If you change schools, add or drop a course, or fail to earn a C or better in a course after you submit your application, you must notify the UC Application Center by email or postal mail. Your correspondence must include your name, UC Application ID number and your signature (if you mail a letter), and will be available to all the campuses to which you applied.

If you receive an offer of admission, be sure to confirm with the campus admission office that they are aware of the deficient grade or schedule changes. Although you must notify the campus of these changes, we cannot guarantee that a campus can go back to review an application after correspondence has been received. Make sure to save a copy of your correspondence just in case.

For CSULA and CSUSB, it will probably not be an issue. For the rest of the schools, I would be proactive and notify them early since it will be an issue.
This is why schools provisionally admit. Your good record should help.
