I know well over 80% w/ a 1500+ (old SAT) were admitted to UCLA, and most of those rejected had low GPAs. Different levels of stats will virtually guarantee you into different levels of UC's, which is unlike other top schools where numbers alone can never seal the deal.

id say 100%

i believe that if you have STRONG essays and DEDICATED and Outstanding EC's, they can be a swaying factor if your stats are so-so.

Well, I had 4.0 UC GPA, 1400/2120 SAT (couldn't send in my 1480/2200), 750 and 710 on SAT IIs -- I was rejected.

I'm out-of-state, and I had decent extracurriculars. I think the essays killed me; they were terrrrrrrrible.

Hopefully, Berkeley will give me a chance though.

If you're in state, it's all about grades. Berkeley is actually my son's safety school because at our school (admittedly, a highly prestigious private school) 193 of 219 kids with GPAs above 4.0 were accepted at Berkeley, 142 of 158 accepted to UCLA, 134 of 136 accepted to UCSD, and 100% accepted to the remaining UCs. Unfortunately for out of state students, they can only accept about 6%, so it's much more difficult to get in regardless of grades.
