UCs for humanities?

From what I heard, the top UCs - UCB and UCLA have great reputation in nearly every field of study. But the next best after then - UCSD - has the strong reputation mostly in scientific and engeneering-releted fields. The same thing I heard about UCD. So, given today’s crazy competition for admission to UCB an UCLA, which other UC campus would be preferrable for the high-achieving humanities-loving student in case s/he wouldn’t make it into the top two?

"UCB and UCLA have great reputation in nearly every field of study"

Berkeley more so than UCLA, which has some weak programs (it's difficult to find a "weak" program at Cal).

I think UCD and UCI would be good for humanities, maybe UCSB too. UCSC is good too.

UCI creative writing; UCSC and UCSB for English/languages. UCSC for best study abroad programs.

" ... than UCLA, which has some weak programs"

Which ones? :)

OK, which UCs are strong in foreign languages/linguistics and music?
