UC's Future

In light of the recent budget cuts to the California education system (to the tune of 9.3 billion), will transfer chances be positively affected or negatively affected? Many of my friends are choosing to go to local California State Universities over the much more expensive UC system. (Tuition rates are expected to rise 10% each year into the near future.) Does this mean the people willing to pay more for an education will have a better chance? or will this be offset by the fact the many of the UC's have been speaking about cutting the amount of transfer student accepted each year?

I do know that the quality of the education will suffer..will will my chances suffer too? I don't know what to think of the situation.

All I know is that Im not even thinking or considering a CSU at all this november filing period. I know I should because of all the cuts and competition etc…but I would seriously rather go to the worst UC than the best CSU just for the sake of the name. Its stupid I know, but nobody in my family has EVER graduated from a UC and I only know two people who have ever graduated from UC, so based on the UC brand alone I wish to be in that elite company. I know like millions of people who are lazy and dont care that graduated from CSU.

My opinion is that people should really go for it right now because its only going to get tougher in the future with next years budget considered to be even worse than this years. Dont sell yourself short by not applying to UC. On stat finder it shows that like 50 some odd people actually got into UCB with a GPA below 2.9 which is crazy.
