The UCs only weight 4 honors/ap classes, but on the UCB and UCLA website, the average GPA is listed as 4.25. This seems really high for only weighting 4 classes. Are they talking about overall weighted GPA?

That means that the difference between weighted and unweighted is 0.43.

If the average number of semesters a student took during Sophomore/Junior years is 24 (6 classes each year, no summer school), then that means (.43)(24) classes, or 10 semesters, were weighted.

This means that there's no way it could be UC GPA (8 semesters of weighted classes max).

For it to possibly be UC GPA, the average number of classes students took during their sophomore/junior year would have to be less than 5.

umm. I have friends who have 4.28 UC GPAs. It's perfectly possible. Let's say you took 6 classes in your sophomore year, and 6 in your junior year (12 in all), and got all A's in them. Give yourself 4 points for each A, so that's 24 points for each semester, and 96 points total. Let's say at least 4 of the 12 classes were honors/ap. Add 8 points to 96 for a total of 104. Now divide 104 by the total number of semester courses (24) and you get 4.33.

I'm sure the UC factored in that i'm from a competitive private school because my UW gpa is only 3.79, UC gpa is 4.08, but I got Regent's from UC Berkeley.

That's true but not everyone who gets in has that high of a GPA. if 4.25 is the average, then the only room you have above is between 4.25 and 4.33? it doesn't seem plausible
