UC's GPA?

<p>Hi, all
Could somebody tell me how UCs(UCSD) calculate student GPA to 4.5?</p>

<p>e.g A=4
10th<br>
semesters=6x2=12<br>
11th<br>
semesters=6x2=12
points = (12 + 12) x4 = 96</p>

<p>Plus 8 extra points for AP/Honor courses
Total points = 96+8 = 104
GPA should be 104/24 =4.33
Why 4.5?</p>

<p>I suppose...this is a bit bad, but if you took 5 classes, and one class was Teaching Assistant (pass/fail) or P.E. which they don't count, then took all honors & APs for the rest of the classes:</p>

<p>4x2=8 x 2 = 16 semester classes
(16x4)+8/16 = 4.5</p>

<p>What a vicious, vicious cycle, huh?</p>
