Thank you everybody! :]

wow, you look great. in my opinion, you are a serious contender for the ivies and other top schools. you are to be commended for your hard work. good luck to you.

and remember to write interesting essays! make them personal.

thanks!
I’ve been told conflicting things about the Ivies and my chances, though.
Are there any other private schools that I should think about?

OMG. I do not know what to do. 8| because of course, I “know” Stanford is great and Harvard is super, but should I try EA for that? I don’t really know where to go, oh! ;|

good candidate to all the schools in your list. The only thing that should concern you now is the odds or % of admit rates at those schools.

Generally: Harvard > Stanford > yale > princeton >> Berkeley > UCLA > other UCs

Good luck!

thank you very much! here on CC, though I see a lot of other terribly impressive profiles.
Mine pales in comparison to others; I think you have seen enough of them to know what I am talking about, truly stellar stats and awesome ECs!

Which school do you think I would have a good chance at? I’m looking at UPenn and Stanford…or would you recommend I do 4 years at Davis and then save some money and HOPEFULLY do medical school or some other opportunity to study at these schools?

I want to do my BS in 3 years, also…any tips?

My thought is that you should NOT do SCEA for stanford. The competition for stanford SCEA is cutthroat and is harder to get into through rather than with RD application. And just so you know, Harvard doesn’t have EA (unless you DO know).

Your stats are great and all. What you’re lacking in just a little bit are EC’s. You don’t seem very focused in one field and the scope of your EC’s are spread out. Most of them are school-related or volunteer work. However, despite this, you have a solid chance.

Okay. I did know about Harvard, but not about EA Stanford, so thank you!

And to everyone out there, I do see how my ECs seem unfocused, but in my life I find that I have talents in a lot of different things. Mostly, I have this drive to seek out new challenges, although as you said there is something lacking in attention span.
I think I look for new venues to apply a certain set of common characteristics
-desire to interact with others, help others
-creativity and resourcefulness
-organization and planning

Some things I have not found out about until recently (ie; hospital) and others have been ongoing (volunteering with swim team), but they have things in common, imho…

With my school load I have not have the time to create more academic clubs, but I was able to take an existing club (french club) and turn it into a huge leadership opportunity. Otherwise I would have picked clubs that were more related, ie; math club, science club.

Oh yeah, I’m in CSF but we don’t do anything meaningful, so I helped take something else ( ie; harry potter fan club) and pointed it in a direction that made it something bigger.

With these thoughts, could someone help me figure how how to present my ECs so that they have a cohesive feel?

Write an essay on what you just posted.

And not to be too harsh but many students have the set of characteristics that you describe. But those characteristics are very admirable…and since you feel so strongly about your EC’s, the only way you can communicate this effectively with the adcom is to write an essay on it.
Good luck

oh and I am definitely planning to major in Neurology, neurobiology, etc.
that is a solid fact now. so please recommend/share anything relevant (8

And for everyone who is reading this post, I’d like to share a thought that my friend just gave me…
“are you the kind of person that needs education to make something outta urself
or the person that can make something out of urself by dropping out of school?”
verbatim, haha.

So no matter where you go, or what you do, or who you meet…make the most out of every situation. 8]

GOOGLE DOODLES!

If you do well on your essays, you are a shoo-in to all of those schools.
