so my ucgpa is like a 3.8, but my class rank is around in the middle of 600 because my school does not weight class ranks so a rank 1 can have no honors /ap classes. i take around 3 honor or ap classes each year. my school is super competitive, the average sat score of takers is almost 1900, no joke. my sat is 2090, with 800 and 800 sat 2s. my extracurriculars are mediocre. almost half my school goes to UCs every year. so what are my chances for the uc's, assume most competitive majors. thank you for your time. my essays were pretty bad. i think i should be able to get into uci and ucd, but am unsure about ucsd ucla and ucb.

I don't get it. If it's super competitive, wouldn't the average score be pretty high?

At any rate:

Nationwide the average score is in the 1500's, so a 1900 average is quite good.

Most of the elite California feeder schools in the Bay Area have SAT I averages of ~2000.

I don't doubt that, I was just responding to the "wouldn't the average score be pretty high" quote. While the 1900 isn't the best, it is still "pretty high."

i would say a average sat score at a school of 1900 is extremely high.

1900 SAT score is pretty high. My school's is probably around 1400-1500 lol. National average is like 1500. I'd say UCB/UCLA is a slight reach.

i think that u'll 100% get into all the ucs besides UCB and UCLA but u still have a more than good chance at these schools, i would say taht u have a 65-75% at Cal or LA

hey can you guys chance me for the UCs.
i applied ucsd, la, berkely, sb, irvine, im in-state.

ur gonna be a reach for LA and Cal. For those with a weighted 3.7-3.99 15 percent make it to LA, 11 percent to Cal (stats from last year). With the influx of apps, those stats will have fallen and most applicants in that grouping need a 2100 or higher to be competitive and a hook would be helpful as well. SD is a slight reach because thier avg gpa is a 4.05 and avg sat is 1950 so ur below on both as well ; /

no.... its in the 1900's. whitney high school in cerritos has the highest sat average in the state of california and its ~2030. i have proof, if you want, i'll post later. like ucchris said, "i would say a average sat score at a school of 1900 is extremely high."

well of course, but those results are skewed based on the size of a school. I go to a school wiht a 1000 seniors, with 1 2400, a few 2350+ and A CRAP LOAD of 2100+ (i go to a 70 percent asian school) but since the school is so big and theres so many other kids getting lower scores, higher scores cant compensate

im wondering, how much of a factor would my uc essays be?

close to none. ur essays wont save u for la, cal, sd. Essays only play a factor for regents scholarships

" close to none. ur essays wont save u for la, cal, sd. Essays only play a factor for regents scholarships"

that's not true. cal and la read your essays (well, la started this year).
